Hybrid Learning on Calibration of thermocouples and thermocouple indicators


NIMT Training organized Hybrid Learning which allows trainees would be able to choose to attend the learning online or on-site at NIMT. Some would learn online associated with theory contents, and later come to practice on-site. The topic of the training was “Calibration of thermocouples and thermocouple indicators”. All trainees came from public organizations, private agencies, and some industrials. They would be able to calibrate and evaluate the uncertainty of thermocouples and thermocouple. For this course, the trainers were Dr.Oijai Ongrai and Mr.Amorntep Leekriangkrai, metrologists from Temperature Dissemination Group. When the trainees finished this training, they would learn and understand about the foundation of temperature, temperature measuring, thermocouple circus and etc. The training was online and on-site at the meeting room on the 3rd floor of the Measurement Standard Development Building to support the development of the rail system, NIMT, Pathum Thani province on June 8-10, 2022.

Laboratory Quality System Assessment for Dimensional Metrology

Uthai Noranim, Metrologist and ISO/IEC 17025 Assistant Manager Ms. Rugkanawan Wongpithayadisai and Dimensional metrology staff members joined the assessment meeting on ISO/IEC 17025 pathways A with quality experts Mrs. Sirorat Thonhamkaew and Mr. Komsan Youngcharoon from Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) , and technical expert Mr. Oelof Kruger from National Institute of South Africa (NMISA). The meeting was held online at NIMT Pathum Thani province on June 7-9, 2022.

NIMT Annual health check up 2022

Although there is no sickness, normally we all should get a health check at least once a year. Because of the present external factors will impact on health which we cannot know such as PM2.5 pollution, toxic smoke from vehicle exhaust, pesticides or herbicides cause cancer, as well as epidemics such as COVID-19, genetic disorder. Some illnesses are caused by not getting enough physical activity, overeating, drinking too much alcohol, chronic stress, insufficient sleep.

Hence, effective self-care is self-protection before infectious diseases by annual health check-ups. Some abnormalities are possibly found in your body, before spreading. Concerning to this matter, NIMT offered the health check up welfare 2022 for all NIMT staff members to be good health. The check up organized at Phadung Matra building, NIMT Pathum Thani province, on June 7-8, 2022.

NIMT signs MoU with the Office of Atoms for Peace for the development of the national measurement


Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT and Mr. Permsuk Sutchaphiwat, Secretary-General of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the development of the national measurement between NIMT and OPA to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the establishment of NIMT at Matra Dhamrong Building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province on May 2, 2022.

This MoU is the second one. The first one was signed on July 23, 2004 or for 17 years ago. The cooperate contributes the development of the national measurement in the field of ionizing radiation, developing metrology systems, promoting measurement capabilities, transferring the standard values ​​from the primary standard to the secondary standard. Particularly, OAP is designated as the Digitated Institutes (DIs) in the field of ionizing radiation by NIMT. Under this MoU, NIMT will encourage and support OPA to be recognized in the ability of measurement, traceability and the international cooperation. In addition, NIMT will exchange and transfer knowledge to OAP and develop testing and calibration laboratories to be accredited internationally.

MoU between NIMT and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to develop metrology systems


On Monday, May 30, 2022, Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT and Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmitt, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Cooperation for the development of metrology systems” between NIMT and EGAT.

Two agencies set the scope of cooperation in five points as follows;
1. Exchange knowledge, technology and innovations in metrology.
2. Research and develop a body of knowledge in metrology systems.
3. Appoint representatives of the agencies to join a related metrology working group.
4. Support to temporally use of metrology tools.
5. Exchange experience and learn from EGAT.

NIMT plays an important role in the development of electrical metrology systems which various users accept the standard values. The users has obtained the correct standard values and has been comparable to other agencies. Thus the standards value from NIMT will ensure to be accepted internationally. In their ceremony, Deputy Director of NIMT, Assistant Director of NIMT and their staff members attended online together. With this cooperation, the ability to develop electrical metrology systems will be sustainable and profitable to the economic of Thailand. The ceremony was held online from NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

NIMT runs training on “Control system for measuring instruments according to the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001” Batch 3


NIMT Organized an online course training on “Control system for measuring instruments according to the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001” Batch 3 to participants from both the public and private sectors. A trainer of the course was Dr. Monthon Homklintian, Acting Leader of Primary Electrical, Time and Frequency Standard Group. The purpose of the course is to understand the national metrology system and National Quality Infrastructure (NQI), understanding the importance of accurate measurements and metrological traceability, how to assess the uncertainty, and the requirements for measuring instrument accuracy and the metrological traceability in accordance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001. Besides that, the participants will be able to manage the measuring instrument control system according to the requirements. This training was online at the developing measurement standards to support the rail system development building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province on May 26 – 27, 2022.

MoU on “Cooperation in Metrology between NIMT and King Prajadhipok Memorial Hospital


Director of NIMT Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook and Director of King Prajadhipok Memorial Hospital (Phrapokklao Hospital) Dr.Theeraphon Tunakh, M.D., jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Cooperation in Metrology between the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) and Phrapokklao Hospital. In the event, executives and staff officers from both institutes attended the signing ceremony.

The cooperation aims to jointly develop the body of knowledge, exchange the technology transfer in metrology, as well as develop measurement calibration skills for their staff officers. NIMT develops the ability of medical equipment for King Prajadhipok Hospital to reach international standards. Besides that, NIMT jointly cooperates in research and development in metrology to create concrete innovations. The ceremony was held at the conference room on the 10th Fl, Cancer Center Building, Prapokklao Hospital, Chanthaburi province on May 26, 2022.

Prapokklao Hospital has participated in the “Incubator and Certification on Medical Metrology Academic Ability” recently. The objectives of the project are to build a social network of quality medical metrology laboratories, building Metrological Traceability to medical measuring instruments through network laboratories, and building the acceptance of measurement, calibration, and testing results for Thai medical laboratories.

NIMT trains on “Calibration of Electrical Calibrators”

NIMT organized a metrology training course on the topic “Calibration of Electrical Calibrators” for participants from both public, private and industry sectors. They will be able to calibrate all calibrator functions and know the measurement technique that impacts on measurement. Also, they are able to assess the uncertainty of the measurement, write the calibration procedure correctly, and read the calibration report. Trainer of the training was Mr. Adithep Jang-On (main trainer), an expert metrologist and Mr. Kongsak Thongboon (assistant trainer) from Electrical Power and High-accuracy Electrical Measuring Instrument Group. The participants will learn its theory related to calibrators, traceability, effects of calibration, calibrator Manuals using and multi-product calibrators. They will be able to apply the knowledge to practical application. The training was held at the meeting room on the 3rd floor of the Measurement Standard Development Building to support the rail system development, NIMT, Pathum Thani province on May 23-25, 2022.

Director attends the Brainpower Thailand 2022 exhibition at Khon Kaen University


Director of NIMT Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook attended the Brainpower Thailand 2022 exhibition with the theme of “Worthy of the open House, Found the city, Create people across borders to the industry of the future”. The exhibition was organized by the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Innovation (PMU-B), Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO) to present outstanding PMU-B activity results throughout the year 2020-2022 linking to the capital management approaches under the Science, Research and Innovation Plan B.E. 2023. -2570. It is also an event to build a network of human resources development, science ecosystems, research and innovation of Thailand.

All presentations and activities were blended with Isan identity with creative media such as movies, music, performing arts to the creative economy value added. The creative economy is composed of various knowledge, intellectual properties (IPs) and research which are connected to the Isan cultural and historical backgrounds, the stock of social knowledge, technology and innovation for business development. Hence, the new goods and service production will create value-added to the economy and society.

The exhibition were divided into 4 Sessions as follows:

Session 1: Activities concerning to Social and Humanities Sciences, and Arts and Culture (Frontier Research SHA)
Session 2: PMU and Thailand’s leading manpower development and research network
Session 3: Networking Activities on “Brain Power Thailand”
Session 4: The Future of Brain Power Thailand

In the event, Director of NIMT co-signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoU) on “BRAINPOWER THAILAND 2022” under the theme “Worthy of the open House, Found the city, Create people across borders to the industry of the future”. There are 5 MoUs, namely, Frontier SHA Consortium, Frontier Technology Consortium on HEP, Quantum, Earth Science & Space, BCG, Global Partnership on Future University-Industry Ecosystem, Frontier AI on Personal Health AI Consortium (Khon Kaen smart living lab Phase II) and Regional Science Park Network. The exhibition was held at Khon Kaen University Art & Cultural Center, Khon Kaen province on May 19, 2022.

Director signs MoU with all RUT for “Metrology for Industry” course


Director of NIMT Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook and Rajamangala University of Technology Network which has been led by the Chairperson of Rajamangala University of Technology (RUT) Commission and Rector of RUT Assist. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the development of metrological systems between the NIMT and the RUT network in all 9 campuses, namely;

This cooperation aims to jointly develop and produce metrology courses in both Degree and Non-Degree curriculums for students and staff members of all campuses, including the general people who are interested in metrology courses. Both institutes and all campuses will join to develop metrology research and technology to various public and private organizations. Both institutes jointly support the personnel development which both have potential. NIMT has a plan to create and develop a short-term course on “Metrology for Industry” which is a course that will be used in developing a body of knowledge in metrology for educational institutions. The students who take the course will be able to prepare themselves for the industrial sector. The students will get knowledge and abilities in terms of measuring instrument calibration that make them ready to enter the future labour market.
