Thermometry and Optical Metrology Department is responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing national reference thermometric, photometric and radiometric standards for disseminating associated measurement scales from the SI units to all domestic measurements in order to assure that production and quality control processes that must rely on accurate and precise measurement results compile to internationally accepted standards.  This can be achieved through calibration and verification of measuring instruments and reference and working measurement standards provided by calibration and testing laboratories to manufacturers, consumers and other stakeholders.  In addition to this main mission, we also collaborate with many partners within both government sector and private sector through many activities such as technical collaborations, trainings, seminars and workshops, consulting, laboratory network, metrology club, infographics, etc.

The department has continuously developed throughout the past century in order to support and strengthen Thailand national quality infrastructure which is the main key to the sustainable economic and social development of the country.
