The National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) welcomed distinguished international speakers of IMSA 2026 (The 2nd International Conference on Measurement Sciences and Applications) during their visit to NIMT’s Electrical Metrology laboratories on 28 August 2026 at its headquarters in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, Thailand.
The visiting experts were Dr. Barbara Goldstein, Associate Director and Physical Measurement Laboratory Program Manager, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA; Dr. Nicolas Spethmann, Head of the Quantum Technology Competence Center (QTZ), Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany; and Dr. Nobu-Hisa Kaneko, Senior Principal Researcher, Global Research Center for Quantum and Advanced Technologies (G-QuAT) and National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan.
During the visit, the experts were introduced to NIMT’s Electrical Metrology capabilities, laboratory facilities, and ongoing work in electrical and quantum-related measurement technologies. Discussions focused on NIMT’s technical activities and provided an opportunity for the experts to exchange knowledge and share perspectives based on their extensive experience in advanced measurement science and quantum technologies.
The visit provided significant benefits to NIMT by enabling direct technical exchanges with experts from leading national metrology institutes, gaining valuable insights into international developments and emerging directions in electrical and quantum metrology, and identifying opportunities for future technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity development. It also further strengthened NIMT’s international network and relationships with NIST, PTB, and NMIJ, supporting the Institute’s continued development of advanced measurement capabilities and international collaboration.
