NIMT welcomed a team of international and domestic assessors for the assessment of its quality management system under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 standards. The assessment was conducted during 15–19 June 2026 at NIMT.
The opening session was attended by Pol. Lt. Gen. Pornchai Suteerakune, Director of NIMT; Mr. Anusorn Tonmueanwai, Deputy Director; Mr. Charun Yafa, Assistant Director; and Miss Charuayrat Yaokulbodee, Quality Manager, together with NIMT executives, metrologists, and members of the quality management team.
The international technical assessment team comprised experts from leading national metrology institutes, including Dr.-Ing. Lars Jens Bünger from Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany; Dr. SeonDo Lim and Dr. Jisoo Hwang from the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS), Republic of Korea; and Dr. Dong Wei, Dr. Xiaofeng Lu, Dr. Zi Xue, Dr. Yushu Shi, Dr. Yanhui Kang, and Dr. Xing Guangzhen from the National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China.
During the assessment, Dr.-Ing. Lars Jens Bünger (PTB) assessed the Temperature Laboratory and Contact Thermometry Standard Laboratory; Dr. SeonDo Lim (KRISS) and Dr. Jisoo Hwang (KRISS) assessed the Photometry and Radiometry Group; Dr. Dong Wei (NIM, China) assessed the Thermal Properties Laboratory; Dr. Xiaofeng Lu (NIM, China) assessed the Non-Contact Thermometry Standard Laboratory; Dr. Zi Xue (NIM, China) and Dr. Yushu Shi (NIM, China) assessed the Dimensional Metrology Department; Dr. Yanhui Kang (NIM, China) assessed the Innovation and Measuring Devices Development Group; and Dr. Xing Guangzhen (NIM, China) assessed the Ultrasound Laboratory.
The domestic quality system assessment team comprised Ms. Sirorat Thonhamkaew and Mr. Komsun Youngjaroon from the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI).
The assessment was conducted for both accreditation maintenance and scope expansion of several NIMT laboratories and technical areas, including the Temperature and Optical Metrology Department, the Dimensional Metrology Department, the Innovation and Measuring Devices Development Group, the Ultrasound Laboratory, and the Medical Metrology Laboratory.
NIMT sincerely expressed its appreciation to all international and domestic experts for their valuable contributions, professional insights, and continued support in strengthening Thailand’s quality infrastructure and technical capabilities in metrology.
The assessment reflects NIMT’s continued commitment to maintaining internationally recognized standards of competence, quality, and reliability in metrology services, while enhancing its capabilities to support industrial development, innovation, healthcare, and international confidence in Thailand’s measurement infrastructure.
