NIMT Expert Supports Environmental and Climate Monitoring Capacity in Indonesia

Dr. Nunapus Laitip, an expert from NIMT, successfully completed a final expert consultancy mission to Indonesia on 22–23 January 2026, under the framework of technical cooperation with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB).

The mission was conducted as part of the PTB cooperation project “Strengthening Quality Infrastructure Services for Environmental and Climate Monitoring, Indonesia.” The consultancy aimed to support national partners, particularly the National Measurement Standard – National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (SNSU-BSN), in the development and finalization of a suitable proficiency testing (PT) scheme for wastewater or surface water analysis, in collaboration with up to four regional environmental testing laboratories.

Building on the outcomes of earlier expert consultancies, this final mission focused on providing targeted technical support to Pusarpedal, an Indonesian environmental laboratory, to finalize and operationalize a new PT scheme within the project context. During the mission, Dr. Nunapus provided expert technical advice, reviewed technical arrangements, and offered practical recommendations to enhance the robustness, reliability, and international alignment of the PT scheme.

This completed expert consultancy reflects the continued collaboration between NIMT and PTB and demonstrates NIMT’s commitment to international knowledge transfer and capacity building, contributing to strengthened environmental and climate monitoring systems and improved quality infrastructure in Indonesia.
