NIMT welcomed metrology experts from more than 35 countries to the 5th and final workshop of the CABUREK M4DT-IC: Metrology for Digital Transformation in International Cooperation project, supported by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). The event was held from 16–21 November 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The CABUREK M4DT-IC project aims to strengthen digital metrology capabilities for national metrology institutes and standards organizations worldwide, while fostering international cooperation to support the global transition toward digital metrology systems.
Hosting the final workshop in Thailand marks an important milestone, reaffirming NIMT’s role in advancing international digital metrology. The event served as a platform for sharing knowledge, technologies, and best practices among metrology experts from different regions around the world.
Special Event on 18 November 2025 — Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness Raising
On 18 November 2025, NIMT organized a special seminar titled “Metrology for Digital Transformation in National and International Collaboration” at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok. The seminar was widely attended by representatives from international metrology institutes and partner organizations across multiple regions.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Pol.Lt.Gen. Pornchai Suteerakune, Director of the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), who delivered welcoming remarks and highlighted the crucial role of metrology in supporting digital transformation: “Metrology underpins confidence in every quality system. Digital transformation is therefore a mission that all countries must work together on, to ensure that standard-based data is reliable, interoperable, and ready to support the new digital economy.”
Key Objectives of the Event
- Raising awareness of the importance of digital transformation in metrology systems : The event emphasized the roles of metrology in the digital era and the need for interoperable quality infrastructure built upon standardized data.
- Knowledge exchange among global experts : Representatives from PTB, OIML, IMEKO, and various national metrology institutes shared
- Strengthening international cooperation to support Thailand’s sustainable Digital Quality Infrastructure (DQI) : The afternoon program featured technical talks and panel discussions involving regulatory, accreditation, and metrology bodies, focusing on guiding Thailand’s transition toward a holistic digital quality infrastructure.
Hosting the final CABUREK M4DT-IC workshop in Thailand demonstrates NIMT’s strong readiness to serve as a regional hub for digital metrology collaboration and reinforces the confidence that:
- Thailand can develop digital metrology systems aligned with international standards.
- NIMT plays a vital role in driving the digital transformation of the national Quality Infrastructure (QI).
- Knowledge exchange with international institutes strengthens the reliability and quality of Thailand’s metrology system.
