Dr. Piyaphat Phoonthong, Senior Professional Metrologist of the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT), was invited to served as a keynote speaker for the ASEAN Quantum Summit 2025, jointly organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), and Malaysia Quantum Information Initiative (MyQI), on 10 – 12 December 2025 at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The ASEAN Quantum Summit 2025 was a regional platform that brings together ASEAN government representatives, researchers, and industry players to explore approaches and strategies for building a more collaborative and integrated ASEAN quantum ecosystem. The event was held in conjunction with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025 (IYQ 2025) and featured various sessions including technical discussion, exhibitions, and quantum technology demonstrations.
Dr. Piyaphat’s talk reflected the principles of quantum technologies elevating time and frequency measurement from high precision to unprecedented accuracy by harnessing the quantum properties of atoms. This breakthrough enables transformative innovations across industries that depend on ultra-precise time synchronization.
