The National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT), led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Pornchai Suteerakune, Director of NIMT, visited the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), United Kingdom, during 15–17 September 2025. The visit was part of participation in the 50th Steering Committee Meeting of the Versailles Project on Advanced Materials and Standards (VAMAS), hosted at NPL in Teddington.
As part of the visit, NIMT’s delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Robert Gunn, Head of International at NPL, and the NPL team. A dedicated session was arranged to enhance bilateral cooperation between NIMT and NPL, featuring presentations on:
– Introduction to NPL, including strategy and secondments
– Digital overview
– Medical Physics overview
– Communications
– Tour of engineering workshop
This exchange provided NIMT with valuable insights into NPL’s strategic direction, research programmes, and areas of expertise in digital technology, medical physics, and engineering innovation. The discussions paved the way for potential collaboration and knowledge sharing to further advance metrology in Thailand and support international standardization efforts.
NIMT’s participation in the 50th VAMAS Steering Committee Meeting and the engagement with NPL reaffirm Thailand’s commitment to contributing to the global metrology and standards community while strengthening its international partnerships.
