MoU between NIMT and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to develop metrology systems


On Monday, May 30, 2022, Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT and Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmitt, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Cooperation for the development of metrology systems” between NIMT and EGAT.

Two agencies set the scope of cooperation in five points as follows;
1. Exchange knowledge, technology and innovations in metrology.
2. Research and develop a body of knowledge in metrology systems.
3. Appoint representatives of the agencies to join a related metrology working group.
4. Support to temporally use of metrology tools.
5. Exchange experience and learn from EGAT.

NIMT plays an important role in the development of electrical metrology systems which various users accept the standard values. The users has obtained the correct standard values and has been comparable to other agencies. Thus the standards value from NIMT will ensure to be accepted internationally. In their ceremony, Deputy Director of NIMT, Assistant Director of NIMT and their staff members attended online together. With this cooperation, the ability to develop electrical metrology systems will be sustainable and profitable to the economic of Thailand. The ceremony was held online from NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

MoU on “Cooperation in Metrology between NIMT and King Prajadhipok Memorial Hospital


Director of NIMT Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook and Director of King Prajadhipok Memorial Hospital (Phrapokklao Hospital) Dr.Theeraphon Tunakh, M.D., jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Cooperation in Metrology between the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) and Phrapokklao Hospital. In the event, executives and staff officers from both institutes attended the signing ceremony.

The cooperation aims to jointly develop the body of knowledge, exchange the technology transfer in metrology, as well as develop measurement calibration skills for their staff officers. NIMT develops the ability of medical equipment for King Prajadhipok Hospital to reach international standards. Besides that, NIMT jointly cooperates in research and development in metrology to create concrete innovations. The ceremony was held at the conference room on the 10th Fl, Cancer Center Building, Prapokklao Hospital, Chanthaburi province on May 26, 2022.

Prapokklao Hospital has participated in the “Incubator and Certification on Medical Metrology Academic Ability” recently. The objectives of the project are to build a social network of quality medical metrology laboratories, building Metrological Traceability to medical measuring instruments through network laboratories, and building the acceptance of measurement, calibration, and testing results for Thai medical laboratories.

Director attends the Brainpower Thailand 2022 exhibition at Khon Kaen University


Director of NIMT Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook attended the Brainpower Thailand 2022 exhibition with the theme of “Worthy of the open House, Found the city, Create people across borders to the industry of the future”. The exhibition was organized by the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Innovation (PMU-B), Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO) to present outstanding PMU-B activity results throughout the year 2020-2022 linking to the capital management approaches under the Science, Research and Innovation Plan B.E. 2023. -2570. It is also an event to build a network of human resources development, science ecosystems, research and innovation of Thailand.

All presentations and activities were blended with Isan identity with creative media such as movies, music, performing arts to the creative economy value added. The creative economy is composed of various knowledge, intellectual properties (IPs) and research which are connected to the Isan cultural and historical backgrounds, the stock of social knowledge, technology and innovation for business development. Hence, the new goods and service production will create value-added to the economy and society.

The exhibition were divided into 4 Sessions as follows:

Session 1: Activities concerning to Social and Humanities Sciences, and Arts and Culture (Frontier Research SHA)
Session 2: PMU and Thailand’s leading manpower development and research network
Session 3: Networking Activities on “Brain Power Thailand”
Session 4: The Future of Brain Power Thailand

In the event, Director of NIMT co-signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoU) on “BRAINPOWER THAILAND 2022” under the theme “Worthy of the open House, Found the city, Create people across borders to the industry of the future”. There are 5 MoUs, namely, Frontier SHA Consortium, Frontier Technology Consortium on HEP, Quantum, Earth Science & Space, BCG, Global Partnership on Future University-Industry Ecosystem, Frontier AI on Personal Health AI Consortium (Khon Kaen smart living lab Phase II) and Regional Science Park Network. The exhibition was held at Khon Kaen University Art & Cultural Center, Khon Kaen province on May 19, 2022.

Director signs MoU with all RUT for “Metrology for Industry” course


Director of NIMT Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook and Rajamangala University of Technology Network which has been led by the Chairperson of Rajamangala University of Technology (RUT) Commission and Rector of RUT Assist. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the development of metrological systems between the NIMT and the RUT network in all 9 campuses, namely;

1. Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi
2. Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep
3. Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok
4. Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon
5. Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin
6. Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna
7. Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya
8. Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi and
9. Rajamangala University of Technology Isan

Both institute’s executives and officials witnessed the signing ceremony at the Royal Cliff Grand Hotel, Chonburi province on May 18, 2022.

This cooperation aims to jointly develop and produce metrology courses in both Degree and Non-Degree curriculums for students and staff members of all campuses, including the general people who are interested in metrology courses. Both institutes and all campuses will join to develop metrology research and technology to various public and private organizations. Both institutes jointly support the personnel development which both have potential. NIMT has a plan to create and develop a short-term course on “Metrology for Industry” which is a course that will be used in developing a body of knowledge in metrology for educational institutions. The students who take the course will be able to prepare themselves for the industrial sector. The students will get knowledge and abilities in terms of measuring instrument calibration that make them ready to enter the future labour market.

NIMT visites Airport Real Link

Director of NIMT Ms.Ajchara Charoensook and NIMT staff members visited S.R.T. Electrified Train Co., Ltd. or, Airport Real Link to develop standards measurement and transfer accurate value to the rail transport-related organizations in Thailand. NIMT visited here on March 29, 2022 in Bangkok.

The government commissioned NIMT to develop a protocol related to the development of the rail transport system. NIMT has experts and metrology tools that ready to service. Therefore, NIMT can help measure, develop, and maintain measurement standards accurately. The metrology accuracy reduces losses and operating costs from the rail transport system. The Rail system consists of several metrology, such as electricity, electromagnetic waves and length and dimensions. NIMT can provide the tools and knowledge exchange between two organizations.

NIMT presents “METROLOGY FOR INDUSTRY” to the Council of RMUT President Committee Meeting

Metrology is the key potential to drive industries and measure the standards of industrial economic growth scale in Thailand. NIMT Director Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook realizes the importance of metrology should widen to the university. The metrology is specific knowledge in measurement science that hidden in all industries. Without the measurement of science, there is not any tools to prove the accuracy of the things.

Therefore, NIMT designs a short training course- Metrology for Industry, for Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) staff and students. They can prepare themselves for metrology knowledge prior to graduate, apply for their jobs and use for their career. On this occasion, NIMT Director discussed cooperation among the nine campuses of the Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) and received good feedbacks. The meeting was held on 31 January 2022 at the Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin (RMUTR).

NIMT continues cooperation with KU Sri Racha on ISO/IEC 17025 accredited

NIMT Director Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook visited the Faculty of Science Kasetsart University Sri Racha campus (KU Sri Racha) to follow up the cooperation project that two organizations have a commitment; the project of calibration laboratory development under the MoU between NIMT and KU. Director had a meeting with The Dean of the Faculty of Science Asst. Prof. Dr. Pattarawadee Sumthong Nakmee to discuss about the project and the next metrological activities which will implement together. Moreover, Director saw the laboratory that NIMT helped KU to accredit according to ISO/IEC17025 in Mass. It is a showcase that NIMT had well done to the university. Today, Deputy Director Mr.Anusorn Tonmuanwai, Dr.-Ing. Narudom Noulkhow and Mr.Tassanai Sanponpute were accompanied with.

NIMT signed MOU with Thepsatri Rajabhat University

At Thepsatri Rajabhat University, Lopburi province, on 17 December 2021, NIMT and Thepsatri Rajabhat University (TRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dedicated for research and education collaboration in metrology, science and technology. The signing took place at Thepsatri Rajabhat University, Lopburi province. In this event, NIMT was represented by Director of NIMT Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook and TRU was represented by the President of TRU Asst. Prof.Chintana Vechmee. Through this collaboration, both organizations will support each other in enhancing the quality of higher education for metrologists, lecturers and students in the area of metrology, science and technology.

On this occasion of signing the MoU, NIMT and TRU had a meeting to plan the direction to make the collaboration. Besides that, Director of NIMT and her NIMT staff members visited the student tools laboratory inside the campus. NIMT gave and advised to the laboratory officers how to use and apply metrology such as calibrating, maintaining, and correct using. Making awareness of metrology in Thailand is one of NIMT duty. Under the MoU, both of organizations will add-on knowledge and exchange experiences to drive Thailand’s education especially, in metrology.

The purpose of this MOU is to strengthen the cooperation between both organizations in developing health metrology academic ability and the internal auditor development.

NIMT and the Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital have always with good relationship in medical metrology cooperation. There are projects joining together against COVID-19 and personnel development in metrology. With this MoU both organizations will continuously push the Thailand’s medical metrology in advance to the international recognition.

Director of NIMT to give the institutional policy and strategy

Ms. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT gave her strategical plan to drive NIMT for her second administration to all NIMT members. Director gave Goals, Ideas, Direction to Work that will make the same well understanding to develop the institute and response to our customers and stakeholders in the long run. Under the newest plan, NIMT strongly believe that we enable to adjust to the sensitivity of global change and the current situation properly. The meeting was held at the NIMT’s central administration office building, Pathum Thani on April 8, 2021.
