MoU between NIMT and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to develop metrology systems

On Monday, May 30, 2022, Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT and Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmitt, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Cooperation for the development of metrology systems” between NIMT and EGAT.

Two agencies set the scope of cooperation in five points as follows;
1. Exchange knowledge, technology and innovations in metrology.
2. Research and develop a body of knowledge in metrology systems.
3. Appoint representatives of the agencies to join a related metrology working group.
4. Support to temporally use of metrology tools.
5. Exchange experience and learn from EGAT.

NIMT plays an important role in the development of electrical metrology systems which various users accept the standard values. The users has obtained the correct standard values and has been comparable to other agencies. Thus the standards value from NIMT will ensure to be accepted internationally. In their ceremony, Deputy Director of NIMT, Assistant Director of NIMT and their staff members attended online together. With this cooperation, the ability to develop electrical metrology systems will be sustainable and profitable to the economic of Thailand. The ceremony was held online from NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

NIMT organizes a seminar on “The Energy Performance Measurement of Water Cooler and its best practice to calibration in order to enhance measurement accuracy and energy efficiency verification”

July 24, 2020 at Rama Garden Hotel Bangkok: National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) organised a seminar on The Energy Performance Measurement of Water Cooler and its best practice to calibration in order to enhance measurement accuracy and energy efficiency verification.

The seminar objectives were to publicize research results and exchange ideas with related stakeholders to measure the performance of water coolers that are accorded to the standards or followed as the agreement (< 5 %) that the measure in the water cooler system must be verified and calibrated correctly.

This research is running by NIMT teams; Dr.Patipat Wongthep Fluid Mechanics Group’s Metrologist, Professional, Dr.Tanya Kochawat Electrical Power and High-accuracy Electrical Measuring Instrument Group’s Metrologist, Professional, and Dr.Thada Keawprasert Temperature Scale Dissemination and Humidity Group’s Metrologist, Professional. The teams have developed 3 best practice guidebooks and will publicize. The research sponsorship is supported by The Thailand Research Fund (TRF) and  Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

Under strengthened cooperation, the results of research will be beneficial to Thailand.
