BERLIN, GERMANY — From June 7 to July 11, 2026, Dr. Theerarak Chinarak, from NIMT, undertook a specialized research visit to the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in the Federal Republic of Germany under the framework of the Scientific Cooperation MoU.
Her visit focused on the project “Strengthen liquid flow measurement capability at NIMT,” aiming to enhance precision and share technical expertise in fluid metrology. During her time at PTB Braunschweig, Dr. Theerarak concentrated on the critical evaluation of diverter timing errors in liquid flow measurement systems using the weighing method. Her core activities and accomplishments included:
– Diverter Timing Error Analysis: Investigating and calculating timing errors in accordance with ISO 4185 standards, utilizing evaluation formulas by Mattingly, Engel, and Matthies.
– Experimental Testing: Conducting hands-on testing of diverter timing errors using an Endress+Hauser (E+H) Coriolis mass flow meter at PTB’s world-class facilities.
– Academic and Technical Collaboration: Collaborating with PTB experts Enrico Frahm and Felix Heitmann to prepare an upcoming paper titled “PTB water flow measurement and calibration facilities: review of timing error history and improvements” for the 2027 IMEKO TC9 conference.
– Expanding Global Partnerships: Discussing future instrument calibration cooperation involving Flow Lab & Service Co., Ltd. slated for 2027.
This collaborative initiative marks another significant step forward in strengthening NIMT’s measurement standards and fostering long-term scientific ties between Thailand and Germany.
