NIMT Metrologist Advances Quantum Voltage Measurement Research at PTB, Germany

Mrs. Yaowaret Pimsut, from NIMT, successfully completed a research attachment at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany, from 24 April to 19 July 2026. The attachment was conducted under the long-standing collaboration between NIMT and PTB and focused on the development and evaluation of a Programmable Josephson Voltage Standard (PJVS)-based Quantum Voltmeter (QVM) for direct SI-traceable AC-DC transfer difference measurements.

During the three-month attachment, Mrs. Yaowaret worked closely with PTB researchers to enhance the performance of the quantum voltage measurement system. Her work included improving the LabVIEW control software by implementing automated measurement routines, signal verification, data acquisition, and configuration management to increase the efficiency and reliability of the measurement process. She also participated in a series of experimental investigations to evaluate different measurement configurations, grounding arrangements, switching systems, and noise reduction techniques to improve the accuracy and stability of the PJVS-based measurement system.

The research contributed to a better understanding of the factors affecting the performance of quantum-based AC-DC transfer measurements and identified practical approaches for improving measurement reproducibility. The knowledge and technical experience gained during this attachment will support the further development of quantum metrology at NIMT, strengthen Thailand’s national measurement capabilities, and reinforce the long-standing collaboration between NIMT and PTB in advancing measurement science and innovation.
