Pol. Lt. Gen. Pornchai Suteerakune, Director of the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT), welcomed Mr. Robert Gunn, Head of International, National Physical Laboratory (NPL), United Kingdom, during his visit to NIMT on 17 July 2026.
The visit provided an opportunity for both organizations to discuss potential areas of collaboration in metrology and exchange views on strategic priorities, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), engineering biology, time and frequency metrology, greenhouse gas measurements, and international research collaboration. The discussion also explored opportunities for future joint activities, researcher exchanges, and participation in international funding programmes.
During his visit, Mr. Gunn toured NIMT’s laboratories to learn more about the institute’s technical capabilities and ongoing research and development activities. The visit further strengthened the long-standing relationship between NIMT and NPL and reaffirmed the commitment of both institutes to advancing metrology through international cooperation for the benefit of science, industry, and society.
