Dr. Theerarak Chinarak from NIMT participated in FLOMEKO 2026: The 20th International Flow Measurement Conference, held in Nara, Japan, from 17-20 May 2026. The conference brought together leading experts, researchers, and national metrology institutes from around the world to exchange knowledge and present recent developments in flow measurement technology.
Dr. Theerarak delivered an oral presentation entitled “Inter-comparison Infusion Device Analyzers in DEC APMP.” The presentation highlighted the results of an inter-laboratory comparison conducted in the measurement ranges of liquid flow rates between 20–200 mL/h and pressure measurements between 0–1200 mmHg using infusion device analyzers under the support of the MEDEA 3.0 project.
The research contributes significantly to the development of reliable measurement standards for medical devices and supports laboratory accreditation activities in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. Participating laboratories can utilize the comparison results as supporting evidence for their accreditation processes. In addition, the methodology developed through this activity can be further adapted for other types of medical measuring instruments in future international comparison programs.
During the conference, participants also attended technical sessions covering a wide range of topics such as microflow measurement, gas flow, hydrogen flow, ultrasonic flowmeters, multiphase flow, Coriolis flowmeters, alternative fuel flow, and new developments in flow measurement technology. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and international networking among metrology experts worldwide.
FLOMEKO 2026 welcomed approximately 300 participants from 31 countries and featured 192 technical papers, including 165 oral presentations and 27 poster presentations. The conference continues to serve as one of the leading international platforms for advancing research and collaboration in flow metrology.
Participation in FLOMEKO provides valuable opportunities for NIMT to showcase its research capabilities at the international level and strengthen collaboration with leading national metrology institutes worldwide. The conference also enables NIMT to exchange technical knowledge, stay updated on emerging trends in flow measurement technology, and apply new knowledge to improve Thailand’s national measurement standards, calibration services, and research capabilities.
