MoU signs between NIMT and UP on the metrological system development for northern area of Thailand

The first memorandum of understanding (MoU) between NIMT and UP was today signed at the Office of the President, University of Phayao, Phayao province.

Director of NIMT, Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook signed the MoU with Prescident University of Phayao (UP) Assoc.Prof.Dr. Supakorn Pongbangphoon on the 24th of December 2020. This MoU shall remain in effect for five years. The first objective is the MoU intended to ptomote bilateral cooperation in metrological curriculum design and national quality infrastructure development to UP students and staff members. The second is to develop research in metrology and transfer technology to the education and industrial sectors. The third is to support both institutes’ personel development in order to gain conpetencies that two institutes are agreed.

University of Phayao (UP) is the biggest university in Phayao province in morthern Thailand. The university is organized into 18 schools. It focuses on health scieces and technologies. With this MoU, NIMT and UP will support together tighting cooperations to publicize metrology in the northern Thailand.

NIMT trains on Calibration for the electrical calibrator

NIMT’s Cooperation and partnership development group organized an annual training on Calibration for the electrical calibrator. This training was given knowledge to participants from public, private and industrial sectors by Electrical Power and High-accuracy Electrical Measuring Instrument’s metrologists, Mr. Adithep Jang-On and Mr. Kongsak Thongboon.

After training, the participants would be able to calibrate the electrical calibrator by direct comparison measurement method to an 8-1/2 digit digital multimeter in all functions, and accuracy comparison standards measurement method that higher than each function. On the top of this, they have learnt measurement techniques that effect to measuring, able to evaluate the value of uncertainty, and write the calibration procedure correctly. Finally, they will be able to interpret the calibration certificate. This training was held between 21 – 23 December 2020 at NIMT’s Phadung Matra bldg., Pathum Thani.

NIMT fire drill and rescue training 2020

NIMT organized an in-house training and practising on fire drill and rescue in the event of a fire or other emergencies 2020. NIMT invited a well-experienced trainer, Mr. Kitisak Puangbuppha and his Lerder Fire Safty’s team to train and demonstrate firefighting, evacuation, and first aids to NIMT members. The members would recognize and get preparedness when an unwanted event could occur.

The members all together participated in the training with social distancing. The training is an annual activity that must be practised through the regulation of safety that was held between 21 – 23 December 2020 at both NIMT Pathum Thani office and Bangkok office.

Seminar on Metrology and its application with Thailand’s mobilization to the international.

Dr. Sivinee Sawatdiaree, head of NIMT’s electrical metrology department was invited to give her lecture on “Thailand’s mobilization by Metrological system” in the seminar on “Metrology and its application with Thailand’s mobilization to the international”. The seminar was hosted by the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).

The seminar built and supported well understanding about roles and duties, and the direction of radiation metrology laboratory research and development of Thailand that raise Thailand will become the centre of the ASEAN primary radiation metrology. It was held at  Swissotel Le Condorde hotel Bangkok on 18 December 2020.

Seminar on “the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement” batch 2 at NIMT

NIMT’s corporation and partnership development department organized a seminar on the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement batch 2. There were numbers of seminar participants from the public and private sectors attended. This seminar training speakers were NIMT’s professional direct current, low frequency, high frequency and electromagnetics metrologists; Dr. Monthon Homklintian and Mrs. Natenapit Khunmthukthit.

A focus point in the seminar emphasized on the guide to the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). The participants would gain their new knowledge and able to utilize to the testing result or laboratory’s calibration result report and more well understanding relevant into the result that has been appeared in the certificate. The seminar was held between 17 – 18 December 2020 at NIMT’s Matra Dumrong bldg., Pathum Thani.

NIMT makes a merit to Prince of Chumphon’s 140-year Birthday Anniversary

In the Occasion of Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon’s 140-year Birthday Anniversary 19th December 1880 (Sadet Tia), Wat Bang Waek temple, Thonburi commercial college, and Phasicharoen district office, public and private sectors, and people in Phasicharoen area all together organized the Buddhist ceremony to perform the Thet Mahachart sermon (Vessantara Jataka). The monks gave a sermon of chapter 2 (Kan II Himmapana) to dedicate a merit to the late prince. In the auspicious event, a number of NIMT staff members jointly attended the sermon ceremony at Wat Bang Waek temple, Phasicharoen district, Bangkok.

NIMT meeting on ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 Quality Assurance system fiscal year 2020

Ms. Rugkanawan Wongpithayadisai, Metrologist, Senior Professional level, from Solid Mechanic and Testing Group, Mechanical Metrology Department, and assistant manager of ISO/IEC 17025 as a meeting chairperson on the ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 Quality Assurance fiscal year 2020. The objectives of the meeting were to review, amend or revise quality assurance system to be getting increasingly performance. The meeting arranged at Phadung Matra building, National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), Pathum Thani province on 27 November 2020.

Kasetsart University students visits acoustic & vibration lab

Sharing metrological knowledge is one of our duties to make people to make clear and recognize about NIMT. Mr. Pairoj Rattanangkul, Group leader of  Acoustics and Vibration warm welcomed Kasetsart University instructors and students from metrology curriculum, department of physics, faculty of sciences to visit and observe the  Acoustics and Vibration lab. During the visiting, Mr. Pairoj and his metrologists gave knowledges about ISO 17025 and the lab accreditation. The students paid high their attention and asking questions. They got good experiences and well understood on  Acoustics and Vibration metrology.
