Miss Thanakporn Nontachart runs technical meetings on PM2.5 cooperation with NIM China and VMI

National Institute of Metrology (NIMT) organized a co-meeting on the project of PM10 and PM2.5 from haze smog and visibility Effective in Thailand. There were 3 agencies attending the meeting, namely, The National Institute of Metrology of China (NMI), Vietnam Metrology Institute (VMI), and National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT). Each party reported progress and discussed action plans to schedule a research trip at NMI in 2023. This meeting, there were ten attendees as follows.

In this meeting, Miss Thanakporn Nontachart, International Relations Officer, was the project manager and coordinator among them.

The PM10 and PM 2.5 from Haze Smog and Visibility Effect in Thailand is funded by the Lancang-Mekong Special Fund (LMC Special Fund) of the People’s Republic of China to standard measurement of PM2.5 and PM10 dust. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, the project has been rescheduled upon the current situation. Finally, the project will be expected that the project will be completed by 2023. The meeting was held online at Phadung Matra Building, NIMT,  Pathum Thani province on 11 November 2022.

Dr. Jariya Buajarern opens the 2nd Dimensional Metrology Club 2022 and opinion hearing on the DCC meeting

Dr. Jariya Buajarern, Head of Dimensional Metrology Department presided over the opening of the meeting “The 2nd Dimensional Metrology Club 2022 and opinion hearing on the Digital Calibration Certificate (DCC)”. The meeting was started sequentially from the report on the results of the annual proficiency testing project 2022 and corrective action guidelines by the Dimensional Metrology Department. Discussion for the annual dimensional metrology club activity plan and metrology services in the Digital Transformation era were talked by Dr. Narin Chanthawong, metrologist from the Dimensional Metrology Department. The opinion hearing on “Digital Calibration Certificate (DCC)” was talked by Ms. Praiya Thongluang and Ms. Sunantiya Parana, Researchers of the Metrology Project for the Digital Economy Transition. The meeting was held at the Meeting Room No.226, the Office of Central Administration Building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province on 8 November 2022.

Dr. Thayathip Thongton welcomes the CRMA cadets to visit NIMT laboratories

Dr. Thayathip Thongton, Metrologist Senior Professional Level from Time and Frequency Laboratory, Electrical Metrology Department welcomed Colonel Suranarong Pullsub, Head of Education Department, Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA), accompanied with 2 military officers and 35 second- and third-year cadets of the Engineering Program in Surveying and Mapping. The colonel and cadets visited time and frequency laboratory, pressure and vacuum laboratory, and dimensional measurement laboratory. The purpose of this visit was to increase knowledge and experience, which benefit to the cadets’ future education. This visit was held at the Rail System Development Building, and Phadung Matra Building, NIMT Pathum Thani province on 7 November 2022.

NIMT Director Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook welcomes Director of Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization)

Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT, together with the NIMT executive team welcomed Dr. Santi Charoenpornpattana, Director of the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization) (RTRDA) accompanied by Dr. Sumet Ongkittikul, the Board of Rail Technology Research. and Development, Dr. Saliltorn Thongmeensuk, Dr. Phattarasuda Witchayaphong, Dr. Patchariya Petchpong and Ms. Pimchanok Paenthai from RTRDA came for a site visit and lab tour at NIMT. The RTRDA executives visited the 10 MN force laboratory, Low Frequency Vibration Laboratory, Dimensional laboratory, High Frequency Electrical Laboratory, and Thailand Time Standards Laboratory at the developing measurement standards to accredit the rail system development building and Phadung Matra building, NIMT Pathum Thani province on 3 November 2022.

Currently RTADA is the main agency for the rail technology transfer, extension, research and promotion including to integrate the related technology to other organisations.

Director of NIMT Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook opens the seminar on “Developing potential of auditors in medical devices”

On October 26, 2022, Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT, presided over the opening of the seminar on “Developing potential of auditors in medical devices” to promote and encourage the auditors in the field of medical devices in Thailand. The auditors will be able to support the quality system in the medical device field which is an important mechanism to be Thailand’s Medical Hub. Today, the seminar was separated into two topics. The first one was talking about experiences in auditing medical device laboratories that was spoken by Mr.Komsan Youngcharoon, Standard Officer Senior Professional Level. Another one was talking about roles and functions of Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) to drive NQI in medical industrials by Mrs. Uthumporn Kaewnamdee, Standard Officer Senior Professional Level from TISI. The participants to the seminar were the officers working in the medical device laboratories from both public and private sectors. The seminar was hosted by NIMT at Phadung Matra building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

On October 27, 2022, it was taught about electrical Power Calibrator; voltage, current, resistance, volume and traceability that was spoken by FS1 Voraphol Phapukdee, Metrologist, Senior Professional Level. The seminar was hosted by NIMT at Phadung Matra building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province as well.

On 26 – 28 October 2022, Dr.Piyaphat Phonthong and Dr.Kanokwan Nontapot, metrologist senior professional level gave a training to participants from public and private sectors on laser power meter calibration. The participants would be able to understand the theory and practical about the laser power meter and interpret its result correctly included to be able to estimate an uncertainty of the measurement. The training was hosted by NIMT Corporation and partnership development group and venue at the 3rd Fl. Developing measuring standards to accredit rail system development building and Phadung Matra building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

Dr.Charun Yafa runs The 4th Designated Institutes Meeting at NIMT

On 19 October 2022, Assistant Director Dr.Charun Yafa presided over the 4th Designated Institutes Meeting (DIs Meeting) together with NIMT International Relations Officers Dr.Natthaphon Jarat and Miss Thanakporn Nontachart and DIs incharge-persons from other DIs agencies. In the meeting, each DIs updated their current status and activities that have been designated and discussed to establish a committee to take responsibility for the DIs of Thailand.

Presently, there are 3 DIs agencies, namely, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (designated for chemistry; preservative agents in food and beverages), the Office of Atoms for Peace (designated for ionizing radiation: all radio activities and neutron measurement; dosimetry measurement), and Department of Medical Sciences (designated for DNA quantification in food; chemistry: pesticide residues in food). On 13 October 2022, Group leader of acoustics and vibration Mr. Pairoj Rattanangkul as NIMT representative led NIMT staff members to pay tribute and remember the passing of His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). At the ceremony, The ceremony organized the merit making and food offering to the monks to commemorate the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, 13 October 2022. The merit making and food offering were presided over by Prof. Dr. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher, together with his executive team. The event was attended by officials and representatives of the agencies under MHESI. The ceremony was held at the 1FL.
