Practical Seminar on the estimation of Estimation of Uncertainty of Measurement on Medical Devices

NIMT arranged the practical seminar on the Estimation of Uncertainty of Measurement on Medical Devices between 16 – 17 November 2020 at Matra Dhamrong Building, Phatum Thani province.

The seminar is one project under the Incubator and Certification on Medical Metrology Academic Ability and running as a sub-project of the Building Entrepreneur Strength on the Thai Medical Industrial Manufacturing and Service with Measurement Standards.

NIMT is the key measurement standards organisation of Thailand and authorising to support and transfer the metrological knowledge to the Thai medical industrial sectors and underline to certify the medical lab, medical devices towards the requirement of ISO/IEC 17025.

Measurement standards that have been certified by NIMT would be able to make sure the accuracy of the devices unquestionably. During the pandemic of COVID-19, NIMT public and shares the metrological knowledge and system nationwide.

Meeting on “How to write a successful SIT proposal”

International Relations Office of NIMT (IRO) organised the meeting on “How to write a successful metrological proposal” for NIMT metrologists who would  submit MHESI’s projects; the Cooperation for ASEAN Innovation Community and the Promotion of cooperation in science, technology and innovation between Thailand and China 2020. In this occasion, Flg. Off. Uthai Noranim, Assistant Director of NIMT, opened the meeting on November 12, 2020 at Matra Dhamrong Building, Phatum Thani province.

Ms. Sawamitree Promyos, Director of International Cooperation Division 3, Office of International Cooperation, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) was invited to brief a wide concept of the projects.

For this topic, Ms. Sawamitree Promyos, Director of International Cooperation Division 3, Office of International Cooperation, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) was invited to brief a wide concept of the projects, criteria and formats. She gave a guideline to write a proposal that must be answered to the objectives in accordance with government SIT policies.

Year-by-year, IRO was granted amount of budget to run impactful metrological projects to our neighbour countries, CLMV and the ASEAN in order to support and build capacity of Metrology in the region successively. NIMT strongly believe that we will lead ASEAN to reach measurement standards together. It brings the best productivities return to our region.

NIMT signs a five-year agreement with Pathum Thani Provincial Public Health Office on NQI driving Thai herb industries

Currently, Thai herb products have been increasingly demanding for consumers thanks to consumers are tending to care their health more than the past. The herbs are mostly used for treating, preventing, prognostic, and maintaining health to the Thai people. It means that the herbs are general in the Thai people way of life.

NIMT ,as the national metrological standards’ keeper, has a mutual cooperation with Pathum Thani Provincial Public Health Office, as the herb products units in Pathum Thani province where NIMT is located. The herb products is one of the multi-project under the project “NQI for Thai herb support and development”.

On this event, Director of NIMT, Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook and her assistant director, Flg. Off. Uthai Noranim attended a meeting on signing an MOU agreement with Pathum Thani Provincial Chief Medical Officer, Dr.Surin Suebsung, Pathum Thani Provincial Public Health Office to strengthen mutual cooperation in NQI (National Quality Infrastructure) to support Thai herb production on the date of 10 November 2020 at Pathum Thani Provincial Public Health Office, Pathum Thani province.

NIMT has facilitated to the local manufacturing sectors to contribute NQI’s body of knowledge building and production chain development for Thai herb products to be met the quality throughout upstream to downstream.

NIMT and Pathum Thani Provincial Public Health Office will promote an agriculturist to cultivate Thai herbs as Good Agricultural Practice System (GAP). Two organizations will make a pilot plant in the area of Nong Sua general hospital to get a certification of GMA (Good Manufacturing Practice) that will lead NQI for Thai herb products to be accepted internationally.

Additionally, the element of NQI consists of 5 things that are Standards, Metrology, Accreditation, Conformity Assessment, and Market Surveillance (abbrev; SMACAM). Especially, M or Metrology is a direct line of NIMT that is able to carry and drive the development of Traceability Chain which is NIMT professional duty to push up and differentiate the identity of Thai product to the world.

In the signing ceremony, 3 key NIMT NQI manpowers came together; Dr. Sivinee Sawatdiaree, Head of Electrical Metrology Department, NIMT, a pioneer in driving and improving NQI of Thailand, Dr. Charun Yafa, Head of Chemical Metrology & Biometry Department and Dr.Nongluck Tangpaisarnkul, Group Leader of Inorganic Analysis.

NIMT visits Prince of Songkla Univeristy’s hospital on “Medical Devices”

Ms. Ajchara Chareonsook, Director of NIMT and her deputy director Mr. Anusorn Tonmueanwai official visited Medical Device Centre at Prince of Songkla University’s Songklanagarind Hospital, Hat Yai district, Songkhla province on 2 November 2020 to advise and discuss to procedure the related project.

 Presently, NIMT is running a large number of projects  on medical devices that called the project of the Incubator and Certification on Medical Metrology Academic Ability to the hospital. With the projects, NIMT will transfer a body of knowledge and help to drive the capacity of medical device metrology in Thailand.

“Asahi Transnational” visits the Department of Dimensional Metrology for Product Developments

Head of Dimensional Metrology Department Dr.Jariya Buajarern and her staff members welcomed Manager of Asahi Transnational Co., Ltd. Mr.Hiroshi Seino and his Inside Sales Ms.Wiphawee Sawetwiharee to NIMT for a business visit. Dr.Jariya Buajarern launched a meeting to overview about NIMT profile and services especially the dimensional metrology. Mr.Hiroshi Seino paid his attention our services that would be joined for business development partners in the approaching future.

Asahi Transnatinal Co., Ltd. is a Japanese multinational cooperation that has established in Thailand since 2009. The company provides various engineering services with 3-dimensional data from input-output devices, such as scanners, casting simulation software and 3D systems which are just matching to NIMT products and services.

After the meeting, Mr.Hiroshi Seino and Ms.Wiphanee Sawetwiharee enjoyed the dimensional measuring instruments lab visit. They would see the readiness to move on as the metrology partners with NIMT.

“L.N.R. Associates” visits Inorganic Analysis Group for knowledge exchange

Phatum Thani – Mrs.Patumporn Rodruangtham, Metrologist Senior Professional of Inorganic Analysis Group, Chemical Metrology & Biometry Department warm welcomed staff members from L.N.R. Associates (Kamphaengsean Factory) to the department for lab visit in order to gain knowledge about the chemical metrology.

L.N.R. Associates are running businesses relevant to agrichemical sectors that has begun its business since 1979. It emphasizes on quality product and respond directly to its customers’ need and provides on physical and chemical products such as to detect about the amount of substance (Density), Hydrogen ion(pH), the stability of the slurry (Emulsion stability) from the measuring standard tools which all the products are leaning on the chemical metrology.


The staff members greatly interested in the agrichemical products, asking for questions & answers to gain their essential knowledge to develop their business further. Moreover, it would be an opportunity for NIMT to get more business partners in these fields.

NIMT attends merit-maiking at religious ceremony for late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great

Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) arranged merit-making at religious ceremony on the anniversary of the passing of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on October 12, 2020 at the MHESI hall, Yodhi Rd., Bangkok.

On this occasion, Deputy Director of the NIMT, Mr.Anusorn Tonmueanwai together with NIMT representatives joined the ceremony.

NIMT visits the Sufficiency Economy learning centre at the 17th Military Circle, Fort Surasi Kanchanaburi Province

Deputy Director of the NIMT, Mr.Anusorn Tonmueanwai together with NIMT members attended about the King Bhumibol’s Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy and visited the Sufficiency Economy learning centre at the 17th Military Circle, Fort Surasi Kanchanaburi Province.

The centre applied the philosophy consisting of the concept of 3 Forests 4 Benefits, Water is Life, Loss is Gain, the New Theory, and the Sufficiency Economy.

The centre is opening for the people to visit and gain their knowledge following the King’s philosophy.

Liquor Distillery Organization (LDO) visits Chemical Metrology & Biometry Department

NIMT, Phatum Thani – Dr. Charun Yafa, Head of Chemical Metrology & Biometry Department welcomed Mr. Somkhruan Jarusombat, Deputy Director of Production Department, Liquor Distillery Organization (LDO), under the Excise Department and his staff to the Chemical metrology & Biometry laboratory visit.

LDO, the only manufacturer and distributor of pure alcohol in Thailand, is interested into the alcohol product development which refers to Reference Material for laboratory research and testing.

Chemical Metrology & Biometry Department, NIMT is the reference material manufacture under trade name “TRM” (Thailand Reference Material). TRM production processing follows requirement of ISO guide 34 : General requirements for the competence of reference material producer. TRM is traceable and has passed measurement comparison to NIMT labs that are international accepted.

The visiting’s objective was to discuss for interrelated collaborations in the future and lab visit on Sepember 29, 2020.
