Meeting on ISO/IEC17025 remote assessment in mass and hardness

Assistant Director of NIMT Flg. Off. Uthai Noranim, ISO/IEC17025 manager and metrologist joined a meeting on ISO/IEC17025 remote assessment in mass and hardness. For mass, it was the re-assessment to maintain the same or similar status. For hardness, it has extended to the new measuring competence. For this matter, NIMT invited one quality expert Mrs. Sirorat Thonhamkaew from Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), and two technical experts Dr. Jin Wan Chung (Mass) and Dr. Naehyung Tak (Hardness) from Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS). These assessments are the activities to support food and drug industry, sugar industry and petrochemical industry. For example, the scale or balance in food and drugs and sugar industries (Mass), auto-part and electronic industries; steel pipes, steel plates, hardening, coating, aluminum, PVC (Hardness). The assessments was held during March 24-26, 2021 at Phadung Matra building, NIMT Pathum Thani.

Meeting on “How to write a successful SIT proposal”

International Relations Office of NIMT (IRO) organised the meeting on “How to write a successful metrological proposal” for NIMT metrologists who would  submit MHESI’s projects; the Cooperation for ASEAN Innovation Community and the Promotion of cooperation in science, technology and innovation between Thailand and China 2020. In this occasion, Flg. Off. Uthai Noranim, Assistant Director of NIMT, opened the meeting on November 12, 2020 at Matra Dhamrong Building, Phatum Thani province.

Ms. Sawamitree Promyos, Director of International Cooperation Division 3, Office of International Cooperation, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) was invited to brief a wide concept of the projects.

For this topic, Ms. Sawamitree Promyos, Director of International Cooperation Division 3, Office of International Cooperation, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) was invited to brief a wide concept of the projects, criteria and formats. She gave a guideline to write a proposal that must be answered to the objectives in accordance with government SIT policies.

Year-by-year, IRO was granted amount of budget to run impactful metrological projects to our neighbour countries, CLMV and the ASEAN in order to support and build capacity of Metrology in the region successively. NIMT strongly believe that we will lead ASEAN to reach measurement standards together. It brings the best productivities return to our region.

Minister leads MHESI in offering merit for HM’s birthday

Mr. Nataphol Teepsuwan, the Education Minister as the acting Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation (MHESI) led MHESI executives and their directors from all institutes under the MHESI to offer alms to Buddhist monks and also led officials to take an oath of allegiance for being good officials and the Power of the Land on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s birthday at the Office of the MHESI Permanent Secretary, Sri Ayudhya Rd., Bangkok.

In the ceremony, officials vowed that they are determined to be good officials, be the power of the country, and, by following the path of His Majesty the King, carry out the duty for happiness of the citizens and the country.

NIMT Metrology technology supports anti-COVID medical devices to the hospital

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, a number of patients are rapidly increasing worldwide. The patients are generally admitted to the hospital. Not only the patients are rick to the COVID-19, but medical workers in the hospital face to a high risk to infected with the COVID-19 as well.

With this important reason, National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) recognizes this issue and initially made a cooperation with Thammasart University hospital, Phatum Thani province, as public agencies under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), to invent accurate metrological measurement devices in the international level laboratory for this medical support.

As said above, NIMT has invented and adapted 3 types of medical devices; 1) 2 patient room and field-hospital UV-C sterilizers that are working well in specific areas such as patient beds.

2) 2 ambulance UV-C sterilizers: In order to make sure the ambulances are aseptic and safe, the sterilizers have been tested that the light intensity is suitable for the ambulance size. All works well with the ambulances. Moreover, it can be applied for other types of rooms such as restrooms and small patient rooms.

and, 3) 15 UV-C sterilizers that adapted from microwaves or Microwave sterilizers by putting germicidal lamps inside the microwaves. All instruments have been tested to electrical safety towards the international standards.

On this occasion, Deputy Director of NIMT Mr.Anusorn Tonmueanwai, and Assistant Director of NIMT Flg.Off. Uthai Noranim and their staff attended this instrument delivery event to Assistant Professor Dr.Pharuhat Tor-Udom, MD., Assistant Financial Director of Thammasart University hospital at the 1 floor hall, M.R.Suvaphan Sanitwongse Building, Thammasart University, Phatum Thani province. With those devices, the medical workers will be confident and carefree themselves to work safely. Finally, the mutual objectives of 2 agencies will be achieved and will be a part to reduce the effect and infection from the COVID-19.
