APMP Mid-year Meetings 2016 (June 6, 2016)

National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) : NIMT, Ministry of Science and Technology arranged The Asia-Pacific Metrology Programme : Mid-year Meetings and Related Activities 2016 during June 6-10, 2016.  On the first day of the meeting, there were Executive Committee (EC) Meeting, Technical Committee Chair’s (TCC) Meeting, Developing Economies’ Committee (DEC) Meetings & Workshop and Metrology-Enabling Developing Economies in Asia (MEDEA Project).  The objective of this meeting were to give an opportunity to the organizations related to metrology in Asia Pacific to join the seminar to discuss and exchange their experience in order to develop the measuring standard in various areas.  The function was held at Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok.

NIMT arranged a training to Myanmar officers (April 18 – May 27, 2016)

Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt : PTB together with National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) arranged a Dimension and Temperature Training to officers from Department of Research and Innovation, Myanmar under the Letter of Intent between PTB and NIMT.  The training was held at Phadungmat building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

Director’s RIMA visit NIMT (March 30, 2016)

Mr. Prayoon  SHIOWATTANA, NIMT Director and executives welcomed Dr. Hidehiko  NONAKA, Director, Research Institute for Measurement and Analytical Instrumentation (RIMA) , Dr. Takehiro  MORIOKA and Ms. Chieko  TABATA from International Cooperation Office, NMIJ/AIST on the occasion of visiting NIMT Laboratories and doing the metrology discussion.  The function was held at Phadungmat building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

Press release “Thailand Innovation” (March 28, 2016)

Dr. Pichet  DURONGKAVEROJ, Minister of Science and Technology presided over the press conference under the topic ” Thailand Innovation ” organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Office of Science and Technology Agency (NSTDA) together with Office of the Prime Minister,  Bureau of the budget, Ministry of Finance and The Comptroller General’s Department to create opportunities for entrepreneurs to Thailand can sell their product or service that are the innovation, quality and performance standards in order to replace imports from overseas.  NIMT also has been listed on the Thailand Innovation under the title “Thailand Reference Material: TRM”.  The function was held at the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Bangkok.

Orientation NIMT Staff (March 24-25, 2016)

Mr. Prayoon  SHIOWATTANA, NIMT Director, presided over a training under the topic of “Orientation for NIMT Staff”  so that staff are aware of NIMT history, adapting the model under the same core values, “I AM NIMT”. In addition, it is the knowledge that employees need to know including rules, regulations and benefits to ensure that employees are aware that they are part of the organization including the promotion of good governance: the spiritual awakening for the mind to prevent corruption as well.  The function was held at Phadungmat building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

SETA 2016 Exhibitions (March 23-25, 2016)

Ministry of Science and Technology together with Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Transportation and Nuclear Society Thailand organized a conference and exhibition under the topic ” Sustainable Energy & Technology Asia 2016 or SETA 2016″ with the objective to push and raise the country as a center of knowledge, energy and technology in Asia.  On this occasion NIMT also join the exhibition to present the Solar Simulator to strengthen and promote the solar industry in Thailand.  The function was held at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangna, Bangkok.

Mechanical Metrology Training (March 23-25, 2016)

Training Section, Policy and Strategy Department arranged a training under the topic “The Calibration of Standard Weight According to OIML R 111-1 and Large Weight” gave a lecture by Mr.Wirun  LAOPORNPICHAYANUWAT, Metrologist from Mass Laboratory, Mechanical Metrology Department to participants from both government and industrial sectors.  The objective was to enhance the participants to identify the meaning of mass, weight, apparent mass and be able to understand the requirement of the convention mass metrology and technical standards of weights according to OIML R 111-1.  Be able to choose the correct equipment to be used and do the maintenance for both standard weight and electric scales.   The training was held at Administration building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

Thermometry Training (March 23-25, 2016)

Training Section, Policy and Strategy Department arranged a training under the topic “The Calibration of Infrared Radiation Thermometer” gave a lecture by Dr. Narudom NOULKHOW and Dr. Thada  KEAWPRASERT, Metrologist from Temperature Laboratory, Thermometry Metrology Department to participants from both government and industrial sectors.  The objective was to enhance the participants to understand the principles of the radiation thermometer and can adjust the value of the coefficient of radiation in the IR Thermometer calibration process.  The function was held at the Administration building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

37th MOST Anniversary (March 21, 2016)

On 37th MOST Anniversary, Mr. Pichet  DURONGKAVEROJ, Minister of Science and Technology presided over the Ceremony of Certificate for Outstanding Employees Award 2015. On this occasion, Miss Thaniya  CHAMPIRANOND, Head of Documentation Section, NIMT received this award. The function was held at Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Bangkok.

Uncertainty of Measurement (March 17-18, 2016)

Training Section, Policy and Strategy Department arranged a training under the topic of “Uncertainty of Measurement” gave a lecture by Dr. Jariya BUAJARERN, Metrologist from Surface Textures Laboratory, Dimensional Metrology Department to the participants from both government and private sectors.  The objective of this training was to enable participants to understand the evaluation of measurement uncertainty followed by Guide to the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) including comprehensive reporting uncertainties identified with calibration certificate and can apply it to their work correctly.  The training was held at the Administration building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.
