NIMT metrologist joint the Quantum Technologies research at the National University of Singapore (NUS)

Dr. Piyaphat Phoonthong, Electronic metrologist was invited to joint the Quantum technologies research as a visiting researcher at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 14 October  – 1 November 2019. The aim to joint research was on the development of atomic clocks and other aspects of quantum metrology.

This joint research was the first activity under the MOU between NIMT and NUS which was signed on 20 January 2019.

Dr.Narin gave a lecture on Quality Control in Industrial 4.0


Dr. Narin Chanthawong, Dimensional Metrologist gave a lecture on “Quality Control in Industrial 4.0” in the Manufacturing Review @ Rayong at Pattana Golf Club & Resort Chonburi which held by Smart Trade Publication Co., Ltd., on 4 October 2019, in order to exchange and share beneficial knowledge to workers who works in the area of Eastern Industrial Zone.

In the seminar, there were exhibitions demonstrated Technological Productivity from various companies. Additionally, NIMT exhibited the project of Entrepreneur Development to Thailand 4.0 and lastly presented NIMT product and service.

NIMT joined the 6th Meeting of the Expert Group on Metrology (EGM-6) in Vietnam

Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, NIMT Director, Flg.Off. Uthai Norranim, Assistant Director, Dr. Sivinee Sawatdiaree, Head of Electrical Metrology Department and the International Relations Officers (IRO) joined the meeting between 16-17 September 2019 in Ha Long City, Vietnam.

The Expert Group on Metrology is established in 2011, and is part of the Science and Technology Infrastructure and Sub-Committee Development (SCIRD), under the ASEAN Science and Technology Committee (The ASEAN COST), NIMT is one leader of the ASEAN EGM founding members.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Re-Signing Ceremony between National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)

Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, NIMT Director, and Mr. Mizuhiko Hosokawa, NICT Vice President, in accompany with Flg.Off. Uthai Norranim, NIMT Assistant Director, Dr. Sivinee Sawatdiaree,  Head of  Electrical Metrology Department, Mr. Tassanai Sanponpute, Head of Mechanical Metrology Department and the staffs of the of their respective institutes, re-signed the MOU to collaborate in the field of information and communications technology on 4 September 2019 in particular with respect to;

(1) generating, keeping, comparing, and disseminating time and frequency,

(2) atomic frequency standards,

(3) time scale and

(4) time and frequency transfer.

MoU Re-Signing Ceremony for Cooperation in Metrology between NIMT and the National Institute of Metrology of the People’s Republic of China (NIM)

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Re-Signing ceremony between National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) and National Institute of Metrology of the People’s Republic of China (NIM) was successfully held, making a milestone in tightening the relationship between the two institutes On September 2, 2019.

The aims of this MoU includes;

(1) Joint-research
(2) Training new technology
(3) Exchange of information
(4) Exchange of technical staff
(5) Co-organisation in workshop, seminar, peer review and,
(6) Inter-comparison and calibration

The ceremony was witnessed by representatives from Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, NIMT Director and Mr. Xiang Fang, NIM Director including the heads and staffs of the of their institutes.

Via this MoU, the two institutes have agreed to further stimulate joint activities and provide a  framework for the exchange of scientific and technical knowledge and the augmentation of scientific and technical capabilities of the two institutes.

 

 

NIST sponsored Fundamentals of Metrology training course to NIMT young metrologist in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA

Mr. Supachai Tangsupaktada, a NIMT young metrologist was nominated to attend the Office of Weights and Measures’ Fundamentals of Metrology training course, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA from 19 – 23 August 2019.

This course had made metrologist from each country realize the potential of working together with the great collaborative and applicable outcomes.

NIMT Technical Visiting to NIM Metrology on medical devices and food safety in China

Ms. Charuayrat Yaokulbodee, Acting Head of Thermometry and Optical Metrology Department and NIMT staff paid a technical visit to National Institute of Metrology (NIM) between 7 – 13 July 2019 on Metrology on medical devices and food safety at Changping Campus and Hepingli Campus, NIM, Beijing, China.

The aims of this visiting were to technical exchange related to medical devices and food safety labs and activities as following;

  • Technical exchange on infusion pump and syringe pump.
  • Technical exchange on patient monitor and blood pressure.
  • Technical exchange on blood oximeter.
  • Technical exchange on phototherapy.
  • Technical discussion in Hepingli campus on element and speciation analysis; Sample preparation for arsenic speciation analysis in rice flour and mercury speciation analysis in fish.
  • Determination of arsenic speciation analysis in rice flour and mercury speciation analysis in fish with HPLC-ICP-MS.
  • Lab tour of the particle measurement lab.
    Introduction of the reference membranes for the calibration of β-ray attenuation monitors.
  • Lab tour of the ambient aerosol measurement lab.
    Introduction of the measurement of the penetration curve of PM2.5/PM10 samplers.
  • Technical discussion on related research cooperation in the future.

This project was supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Sciences, Research and Innovation (MHESI) (former-the Ministry of Sciences and Technology (MOST)) under the Thailand – China Sciences and Technology Cooperation. It was the first project on medical devices and food safety metrology which continue exchanging and joining researches between NIMT and NIM further.

Dr.Patipat Wongthep, Metrologist Professional Level and Mr.Natthaphon Jarat, International Relations Officers Professional Level  as NIMT’s representatives joined the Ministry of Sciences and Technology (MOST) in giving a warm welcome H.E. Ms. Ina Marčiulionytė, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania (Beijing) in occasion of her official visiting on 20 February 2019 at MOST.

The research areas which is interested to exchange and cooperate are 1) Life Sciences, 2) Biotechnology, 3) Metrology and others involving to Sciences, Technology and Innovation.

NIMT and CQT signed a MoU to support future scientific cooperation

Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, NIMT Director, Flg.Off. Uthai Norranim, Assistant Director, Dr. Sivinee Sawatdiaree, Head of Electrical Metrology Department and  Dr.Piyaphat Phoonthong, Electrical Metrologist visited the Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore on 20 January 2019 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the visit to promote joint research.

The MoU to successful further collaboration was signed by NIMT’s Director Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook and CQT’s Deputy Director Prof. Lai Choy Heng. The two organizations target to collaborate on the development of atomic clocks and other aspects of quantum metrology. One possibility is comparing readings from atomic clocks in their two locations through the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).

NIMT Director presented a token of appreciation to Prof. Pairash Thajchayapong, Specialist & Senior Advisor to Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency. He witnessed the signing of the MoU.
