Pairoj Rattanangkul checks black smoke and noise pollution for Khao Yai National Park’s vehicles

Khao Yai National Park, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has carried out a prototype project to enhance the environmental quality affected by air and noise vehicles. In order to integrate with similar duty agencies, namely, Acoustics and Vibration Group National Institute of Metrology (NIMT), Pollution Control Department (PCD), and the Regional Environment Office 11 Nakhon Ratchasima jointly organized activities at Khao Yai National Park on 7-8 July 2022.

For this matter, Head of Khao Yai National Park Mr. Chaiya Huayhongthong assigned to Assistant Head of Khao Yai National Park Mr. Termsak Noinarai and his officers welcomed Group leader of Acoustics and Vibration Mr.Pairoj Rattanangkul, NIMT metrologists and PCD officers.

Mr.Tersak led 135 national park vehicles to check for black smoke and noise measurements by NIMT and PCD. It is a pilot and prototype project to reduce the environmental impact from the vehicles to screen them before entering the conservation area which is a standard ecotourism place in order to reduce the impact on the quality of life of wildlife Tourism. The project is called the “Government Cars reduce Pollution” project which encourages the use of government vehicles by not-supporting air and noise emissions lower than the standards criteria. It corresponds to the plan of action on resolving the pollution of PM2.5 caused by incomplete combustion. The project runs under the research physical property in the metrology of the cheapest noise meters that comply with the standards and function to vehicle noise meters.

#YouTube “Metrology for Digital Transformation Workshop on DCC– Applications and future developments”

Metrology for Digital Transformation Workshop “DCC– Applications and future developments” Digital transformation is the process of using digital technologies to create new or modify existing business processes, culture, and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements. This reimagining of business in the digital age is digital transformation. Digital transformation creates new possibilities for your organization with innovative products and services, better ways of working, and nimble organizational models. Often, digital transformation fails because organizations focus solely on technology—and do not pay as much attention to people and processes.

As the APMP Developing Economies’ Committee (DEC) is responsible for initiating and coordinating work programs to address the needs of APMP member Developing Economy NMIs (DENs), working together with other APMP bodies/Committees as appropriate. It is the objective of the Future Proofing Taskforce to support DENs to adapt, adopt and engage in new technologies in order to

• Improve their ability to address customers’ needs using new technologies applied to metrology services;
• Increase societal benefits through access and use of advances in metrology;
• Increase their ability to support their stakeholders through access to external capabilities (including traceability to the re-defined SI) and services that are fit-for-purpose in the changing external environment of technological and industrial innovation.

This project will seek for supports and expertise from PTB on strategic planning of metrology for digital transformation. This project is proposed to provide a broader view for NMIs to determine our role for the digitalization of the economy and society. It will involve knowledge transfer and experience sharing with APMP DEC members.

The digitalization of metrology poses a challenge to all members of the metrology community. Conventional calibration certificates could soon be a thing of the past. Metrology institutes and calibration laboratories worldwide could in future use “digital calibration certificates” (DCC) instead of analog versions. Above all, machine readability would significantly support manufacturing and quality monitoring processes, where digitalization is becoming increasingly prevalent. The aim is to develop universal exchange formats throughout the metrology sector.

The aim of this workshop is to provide an overview of the prototype digital calibration certificate. The role of calibration certificates will be explained and the differences between paper-based and digital calibration certificates will be described. All specifications of the digital calibration certificate; security aspects; will be discussed.

Project aims and the target group:
1. Participants gain a comprehensive overview of the digital transformation and how metrology can make contribution to the need of country due to digital transformation.
2. Participants could contribute knowledge they gain from workshop to deploy digital technology to improve their capabilities and to the further development to their country.

NIMT Annual health check up 2022

Although there is no sickness, normally we all should get a health check at least once a year. Because of the present external factors will impact on health which we cannot know such as PM2.5 pollution, toxic smoke from vehicle exhaust, pesticides or herbicides cause cancer, as well as epidemics such as COVID-19, genetic disorder. Some illnesses are caused by not getting enough physical activity, overeating, drinking too much alcohol, chronic stress, insufficient sleep.

Hence, effective self-care is self-protection before infectious diseases by annual health check-ups. Some abnormalities are possibly found in your body, before spreading. Concerning to this matter, NIMT offered the health check up welfare 2022 for all NIMT staff members to be good health. The check up organized at Phadung Matra building, NIMT Pathum Thani province, on June 7-8, 2022.
