Assistant Director Dr.Charun Yafa, together with Mr.Pairoj Rattanangkul, Head of Acoustics and Vibration Group met Director-General of Meteorological Department Ms.Chomparee Chompurat to advise and discuss about mutual cooperation on metrology especially earthquake that is related to acoustics and vibration. The meeting was held at The Meteorological Department of Thailand, Sukhumvit Road, Bangna, Bangkok on January 10, 2023.

Director of NIMT Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook opens the 1st electrical metrology club 2022

December 22, 2022, Director of NIMT Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook presided over to open the 1st electrical metrology club 2022 on a guideline for electrical measurement standards and discussed using digital calibration certificates (DCC). The aims of the activities were to educate members to know how to maintain the electrical measurement standards and how to implement the DCC.

In the morning session, one topic on electrical device maintenance was taught by professional metrologist Mr.Surached Puemchalad. The topic on consideration of calibration interval using calibration certificate taught by Professional metrologist Mr. Kongsak Thongboon and acting Group Leader of Direct Current, Low Frequency, High Frequency and Electromagnetics Fields Frequency Electricity and Electromagnetics Field Group Dr. Monthol Homklintian.

In the afternoon session, Dr.Narin Chantawong, Senior professional metrologist from the department of dimensional metrology taught on metrology service in the digital transformation era. And the last topic was about DCC that was taught by Khun Praiya Thongluang and Khun Sunantiya Parana, Metrology for digital economy transformation project researcher. The activities were held at meeting room 226, the central administration building, NIMT Khlong Ha, Pathum Thani province.

3 NIMT metrologists attended to the Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements 2022 (CPEM 2022)

3 NIMT metrologists attended to the Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements 2022 (CPEM 2022) to present their research relevant to quantum measurement and electrical measurement in Wellington, New Zealand on 12 – 16 December 2022. The metrologists are as follows;

1. Dr.Monthol Homklintian, Metrologist, Senior Professional Level and Acting Head of Primary Electrical, Time and Frequency Standard Group, presented on “Improvement to the measuring of 10 nF standard capacitor using a voltage transformer ratio bridge method at NIMT”.
2. Mrs.Natenapit Khumthukthit, Metrologist, Professional Level, Direct Current, Low Frequency, High Frequency and Electromagnetics Fields Group, presented on “Ratio Verification of NIMT6010C automatic resistance bridge”.
3. Dr.Jutarat Tanarom, Metrologist, Professional Level, presented on “Dissemination of DC Voltage standard at NIMT, Thailand”. On this occasion, it was gratifying that Dr.Jutarat Tanaron won for Early Career Award from her outstanding presentation.

Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook NIMT Director teaches Calibration and management of measuring instruments for industrial at Lamphun Office for Skill Development, Lamphun province

Director of NIMT Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook, together with her NIMT staff members were experts on Calibration and management of measuring instruments for industrial that has been organized by NIMT and Lamphun Office for Skill Development on 13 – 17 December 2022 at Lamphun Office for Skill Development, Lamphun province.

NIMT and Lamphun Office for Skill Development have jointly designed a course on Calibration and management of measuring instruments for industrial. This course has been developed specifically for industrial skilled labors and ordinary interested persons in Lamphun province to be leant and improved their knowledge and skills in metrology. The participants who have passed this course will earn a certificate which has been certified by NIMT. The participants will be able to apply the knowledge for utilizing and increasing efficiency for industrial sector. The course was as following;

1. Metrology and quality system by Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT
2. Calibration and quality system tools management, and foundation of electrical instrument calibration by Dr. Chaiwat Jassadajin, Electrical Power and High -accuracy Electrical Measuring Instrument
3. Foundation of measuring uncertainty by Dr.-Ing.Narudom Noulkhow, Head of the Corporation and Partnership Development Group
4. Foundation of electric scale calibration by Mr.Monchai Mitr-Ari, Metrologist Senior Professional Level
5. Foundation of temperature measurement instruments by Dr.Oijai Ongrai, Metrologist Senior Professional Level

NIMT is continuously running a ton of activities related to metrology knowledge delivery to various targets, namely, university students, industrial skill labors, and ordinary persons. Dr.Kittiya Shearman and Miss Pornhathai Kankaew gave a training on EMU

Dr.Kittiya Shearman, Group leader of bio analysis and Miss Pornhathai Kankaew, Metrologist of organic analysis group gave a training on Evaluation of measurement uncertainty in chemical analysis (EMU) online. This training obtained both theoretical and practical workshop such revision of useful statistics for estimation of measurement uncertainty, reporting of measurement uncertainty and exercise, and workshop. The training was online from the 3rd meeting room, the building of developing measurement standards to accredit the rail development, NIMT, Pathum Thani province, on 23 – 25 November 2022.

Mr.Tosporn Eithkong joins the Buddhism’s robe-offering ceremony to support the royal scholarship for the Thai Sangha

On November 14, 2022, the Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Innovation (MHESI) made the Thod Phapato (Buddhism’s robe-offering ceremony) to support the royal scholarship for the Thai Sangha in dedication to the royal merit-making to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the great on the anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s death. At this ceremony, Mr.Tosporn Eithkong, Group leader of human resource development as NIMT representative joined the ceremony at Wat Hua Lam Pong temple, Rama IV Rd., Si Phraya bud-district, Bangrak district, Bangkok.

Miss Thanakporn Nontachart runs technical meetings on PM2.5 cooperation with NIM China and VMI

National Institute of Metrology (NIMT) organized a co-meeting on the project of PM10 and PM2.5 from haze smog and visibility Effective in Thailand. There were 3 agencies attending the meeting, namely, The National Institute of Metrology of China (NMI), Vietnam Metrology Institute (VMI), and National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT). Each party reported progress and discussed action plans to schedule a research trip at NMI in 2023. This meeting, there were ten attendees as follows.

In this meeting, Miss Thanakporn Nontachart, International Relations Officer, was the project manager and coordinator among them.

The PM10 and PM 2.5 from Haze Smog and Visibility Effect in Thailand is funded by the Lancang-Mekong Special Fund (LMC Special Fund) of the People’s Republic of China to standard measurement of PM2.5 and PM10 dust. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, the project has been rescheduled upon the current situation. Finally, the project will be expected that the project will be completed by 2023. The meeting was held online at Phadung Matra Building, NIMT,  Pathum Thani province on 11 November 2022.

Dr. Jariya Buajarern opens the 2nd Dimensional Metrology Club 2022 and opinion hearing on the DCC meeting

Dr. Jariya Buajarern, Head of Dimensional Metrology Department presided over the opening of the meeting “The 2nd Dimensional Metrology Club 2022 and opinion hearing on the Digital Calibration Certificate (DCC)”. The meeting was started sequentially from the report on the results of the annual proficiency testing project 2022 and corrective action guidelines by the Dimensional Metrology Department. Discussion for the annual dimensional metrology club activity plan and metrology services in the Digital Transformation era were talked by Dr. Narin Chanthawong, metrologist from the Dimensional Metrology Department. The opinion hearing on “Digital Calibration Certificate (DCC)” was talked by Ms. Praiya Thongluang and Ms. Sunantiya Parana, Researchers of the Metrology Project for the Digital Economy Transition. The meeting was held at the Meeting Room No.226, the Office of Central Administration Building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province on 8 November 2022.

Dr. Thayathip Thongton welcomes the CRMA cadets to visit NIMT laboratories

Dr. Thayathip Thongton, Metrologist Senior Professional Level from Time and Frequency Laboratory, Electrical Metrology Department welcomed Colonel Suranarong Pullsub, Head of Education Department, Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA), accompanied with 2 military officers and 35 second- and third-year cadets of the Engineering Program in Surveying and Mapping. The colonel and cadets visited time and frequency laboratory, pressure and vacuum laboratory, and dimensional measurement laboratory. The purpose of this visit was to increase knowledge and experience, which benefit to the cadets’ future education. This visit was held at the Rail System Development Building, and Phadung Matra Building, NIMT Pathum Thani province on 7 November 2022.

Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT, together with the NIMT executive team welcomed Dr. Santi Charoenpornpattana, Director of the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization) (RTRDA) accompanied by Dr. Sumet Ongkittikul, the Board of Rail Technology Research. and Development, Dr. Saliltorn Thongmeensuk, Dr. Phattarasuda Witchayaphong, Dr. Patchariya Petchpong and Ms. Pimchanok Paenthai from RTRDA came for a site visit and lab tour at NIMT. The RTRDA executives visited the 10 MN force laboratory, Low Frequency Vibration Laboratory, Dimensional laboratory, High Frequency Electrical Laboratory, and Thailand Time Standards Laboratory at the developing measurement standards to accredit the rail system development building and Phadung Matra building, NIMT Pathum Thani province on 3 November 2022.

Currently RTADA is the main agency for the rail technology transfer, extension, research and promotion including to integrate the related technology to other organisations.
