On 11 October 2022, National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) set up a table for the royal commemoration of the anniversary of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great on October 13. The table was set up at the NIMT central administration office, Pathum Thani province.

Deputy Director of NIMT Mr. Anusorn Tonmuenwai opens the seminar on “Preparing for ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 Laboratory Quality System Certification”

On 4 – 5 October 2022, Mr. Anusorn Tonmuenwai, Deputy Director of NIMT, presided over the opening of the academic seminar on “Preparing for ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 Laboratory Quality System Certification”. It is one of the activities in the project “Developing a pressure calibration manual to guide technical audits and a network of pressure calibration laboratories for the industry under the research plan for capacity promoting and building, and expand the scope of NQI that has been granted by the office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO). The objective of this seminar was to develop the potential of pressure calibration laboratories and to provide a central standard for technical assessment guidance for pressure calibration laboratories including to build a network of national pressure calibration laboratories and collect data on high-pressure measurement applications in the domestic high-pressure food processing industry.

The first day of the seminar (October 4, 2022) had a lecture on the topic “Scope, Definition and Requirements of Laboratory Quality System according to ISO/IEC 17025: 2017” by Mr. Wirun Laopornpichayanuwat, Head of Mechanical Metrology and Ms. Panatda Panpetch, metrologist senior professional level from Primary Temperature Standards Group, Thermometry and Optical Metrology Department. The second day of the seminar (October 5, 2022) also featured the same topic. It furthered sharing experiences in preparing for submitting its application in the field of Calibration of Pressure Measuring Instruments. It was lectured by Flg.Lt. Tawat Changpan, former NIMT’s Head of Mechanical Metrology Department. The seminar was held at Fortune 3-4 Meeting Room, Grand Fortune Hotel, Bangkok.

Dr.Charun Yafa gratefully welcomed Mr. James E. Norris, NIST expert to setup SRP at NIMT

On 29 September 2022, Assistant Director of NIMT Dr.Charun Yafa gratefully welcomed Mr. James E. Norris, an expert from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the United State of America on occasion of setting up NIST standards reference photometer (SRP) for Thailand’s primary ozone standards calibration at NIMT. It was procured to setup NIMT national standards for ozone meter.

NIST expert exchanged his experiences and knowledge concerning to the ozone meter to NIMT chemical staff members. Moreover, he also trained the usage of SRP and calibration to them. They will be able to calibrate it correctly. His training was held at the department of chemical and biometry, Matra Dhamrong building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

Mr.Jeniphathn Ya-Anan as NIMT representative pays tribute to the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the UK

Mr.Jeniphathn Ya-Anan, Manager of NIMT’s Central Administration Departnent accompanied with a group of the Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Innovation (MHESI) as NIMT representative paid tribute to the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom in front of the royal portrait at the Manee Nopparat Gate, Grand Palace on 23 September 2022.

His Majesty the King His Majesty graciously favors the government agencies in His Majesty enshrined the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom at the Manee Nopparat Gate of the Grand Palace between 19 – 25 September 2022 for the public and various agencies join in mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. Every day has a group of people from various agencies and people came to pay tribute in front of the royal portrait.

NIMT joins the exhibition of SATA 2022, Solar + Storage Asia 2022 & Enlit Asia 2022

The Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Technology (MHESI) brought 11 agencies under the ministry to join in the exhibition and update a trend on world energy innovation. Changing, production and developing in energy of the future of Asia. It is going to move forward to a clean energy society. The exhibition was joined by domestic and international exhibitors. Visitors got new experiences and created opportunities with Thailand’s energy developing under the theme of ATA 2022, Solar + Storage Asia 2022 & Enlit Asia 2022. The exhibition was venued on 20 – 22 September 2022 at Bitech Bang Na, Bangkok.

NIMT joined the exhibition as well. NIMT’s showcase was Solar Simulator Performance Testing. It was developed by NIMT metrologists. NIMT’s booth was located in the A01 zone. Mr. Anusorn Tonmueanwai welcomes Assistant Dean from Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University

Mr. Anusorn Tonmueanwai, Deputy Director of NIMT and Mr. Mr.Tassanai Sanpolpat, metrology expert, Department of Mechanical Metrology, welcomed. Asst. Prof. Dr. Thawatchai Man-Am, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University along with his staff came and visited NIMT’s laboratories. This visit aims to allow civil servants freely to visit the laboratories to apply the knowledge, skills and approaches gained from the visit in order to achieve efficiency and effectiveness. The visit was held on 15 September 2022 at Phadung Matra building, NIMT, Pathum Thani province.

Dr. Charun Yafa opens of the workshop under the Supersonic Wave Metrology Club on “Electrical safety testing according to international standards: Therapeutic ultrasound and related instruments”

Dr. Charun Yafa, Assistant Director of NIMT, presided over the opening of the workshop under the Supersonic Wave Metrology Club on “Electrical safety testing according to international standards: Therapeutic ultrasound and related instruments” that was organised by the Ultrasound Laboratory, Acoustics and Vibration Group. This workshop was divided into two sections: The first section was tough by Dr. Patchariya Petchpong, Professional Metrologist. NIMT has published knowledge on the preparation of standard documents, methods for medical devices calibration, and therapeutic ultrasound according to the IEC 60601-2-5. This section focuses on building metrological traceability for medical devices in Thailand as the international standards.

The second section was the knowledge transfer of electrical safety testing according to international standards IEC 60601-1 and IEC 62353 for ultrasound therapy. A part of the testing that is defined in the ultrasound calibration methods manual was taught by Mr. Ponsorn Sengthan, Treat Med Co., Ltd. This workshop was held both online and on site at the Acoustics and Vibration building, Yothi Rd, Bangkok.

NIMT and Lamphun Skill Development Institute jointly organised a training course on Metrology and Quality Systems for Measuring Tools Management at Lamphun Skill Development Institute, Lamphun province.
NIMT collaborated with the Lamphun Skill Development Institute and the Federation of Thai Industries Lamphun Chapter, organised the courses for Measuring Tools Management under the metrology awareness activity.
For this event, Mr. Sorasit Chalisarapong, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries Lamphun Chapter and Mrs. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT gave lectures on the training. The course was held at Skill Development Institute Lamphun, Lamphun province on 6 September 2022.

On 5-9, September 2022, NIMT and Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) jointly organised a training course on Metrology and Quality Systems for Electrical Engineers at RMUTL, Chiang Mai province.
Mrs.Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT and her metrologists were speakers for the course to train students and other persons to increase their knowledge and skills in metrology. The participants who have completed the course will earn the certificate from NIMT.

Jariya Buajarerna hosts seminar on “SI units: Practical realizations and how to assure measurement traceability of Ampere” online.

Dr.Jariya Buajarern, Head of Dimensional Metrology Department as APMP DEC Future Proofing Task Force Lead hosted a seminar on “SI units: Practical realizations and how to assure measurement traceability of Ampere” in order to update the current status of measuring standard in Ampere from member countries, namely, Japan, Australia, India, Singapore and Thailand.

Each member reported the development of cooperation among the countries. The measuring traceability has been risen to reach the requirements of International System of Units (SI Units) by the member countries.
The seminar was hosted by NIMT from NIMT, Pathum Thani province on 24 August 2022.
