Mr. Wasin Limthunyalak and Dr. Kittisun Mongkolsuttirat, metrologists from the Primary Length Standard Group, Dimensional Metrology Department, attended the CIPM Key Comparison for laser wavelength (CCL-K11) and discussed the establishment of gauge block interferometer system on 28 January – 7 February 2024 at the National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ).
Mr. Kittipong Chaemthet and Mr. Natsarin Soodsara, metrologists from Solid Mechanics and Testing Group, Mechanical Metrology Department, attended the collaborative training on 10 MN Hydraulic Amplification Force Standard Machine (10 MN HFSM) by the experts from the National Metrology Institute (NIM China) and Innovative Testing Technology Co., Ltd.
Dr. Jariya Buajarern, Head of Dimensional Metrology Department, Head of International Relations and Quality Manger of NIMT, acted as a technical expert for the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS) in the assessment of the laboratory for Angle / Form / Length / Rotational Speed / Length and Related Measurements.
Mr. Likit Sainoo, along with Dr. Tasanee Priruenrom and Ms. Nattanan Woradet, from Fluid Mechanics Group, Mechanical Metrology Department, welcomed staff from Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of the Philippines to visit NIMT for technical consultation and training on the calibration of pressure measuring instruments according to DKD-R 6-1: Edition 03/2014. It was held on 18 – 22 December 2023 at Phadung Matra building, Pathumthani province.
NIMT recently organized technical training for staff of National Metrology Institute of Malaysia (NMIM). The courses focused on the development of personnel competency in measurement and calibration as follows:
– Mr. Mohd Nor bin Ghafar participated training on “Water Flow Measurement System and its Uncertainty Evaluation” lectured by Dr. Theerarak Chinarak, Senior Professional Metrologist and Dr. Patcharapol Gorgitrattanagul, Professional Metrologist, Fluid Mechanics Group.
– Mr. Khairul Aswadi bin Che Awang participated training on “Laminar Mass Flow Meter Calibration System” lectured by Mr. Sutham Masri, Professional Metrologist, Fluid Mechanics Group.
– Mr. Ali Imran bin Abdul Hapip participated training on “The Calibration of Torque Measuring Devices According to DIN 51309: 2005” lectured by Mr. Nattapon Saenkhum, Group Leader of Solid Mechanics and Testing and Ms. Nittaya Arksonnarong, Professional Metrologist, Solid Mechanics and Testing Group.
NIMT cordially invited Dr. rer. nat. Jochen Vogl, Researcher from Division 1.1 Inorganic Trace Analysis, Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und –prüfung (BAM), Berlin, Germany, to visit NIMT to provide training on Isotope ratio measurement by ICP-SFMS. He has been an expert on Isotope ratio measurement and Quantitative analysis using IDMS, and a Vice-Chair of CCQM Working Group on Isotope Ratios (CCQM-IRWG). The training was particularly designed for the staff of Chemical Metrology and Biometry department. It was held at Matra Dhamrong building, Pathumthani province on 6 – 14 December 2023.
On 7 December 2023, Dr. Sivinee Sawatdiaree, Head of Electrical Metrology Department, along with Dr. Jutarat Tanarom, Professional Metrologist of Electrical Metrology Department, welcomed Dr. FURUKAWA Hiroki and Prof. Ryuji TAKAHASHI from the University of Electro-Communication (UEC), Japan to visit NIMT to strengthen relations between NIMT and UEC, and discuss the possibilities for student internships at NIMT. It was held at Phadung Matra building, Pathumthani province.
Pol.Lt.Gen. Pornchai Suteerakune, Director, and NIMT executives attended the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between National Institute of Metrology (NIMT) and Vietnam Metrology Institute (VMI) led by Dr. Ngo Thi Ngoc Ha, VMI Director. The ceremony aimed to strengthen collaboration between NIMT and VMI, promote exchange of technical and scientific knowledge and the augmentation of the technical capabilities of NIMT and VMI. It was held in Shenzhen, China on 1 December 2023.
Dr. Monthol Homklintian, Acting Group Leader of Primary Electrical, Time and Frequency standards, Dr. Chatchaval Kurupakorn and FS.1 Sittisak Pimsut, Senior Professional Metrologists and Dr. Jutarat Tanarom, Professional Metrologist, welcomed Dr. Jan Kučera, Deputy Director of Regional Inspectorate Praha 1011 – Department of primary metrology of electrical impedance and electrical quantities, Czech Metrology Institute (CMI) to visit NIMT to set up AC-QHR cryoprobe for the Electrical Metrology Department, National Institute of Metrology (Thailand).
Pol.Lt.Gen. Pornchai Suteerakune, Director of NIMT, accompanied NIMT executives and staff to attend the 39th APMP General Assembly and Related Activities (APMP 2023) hosted by National Metrology Institute (NIM), China from 27 November to 3 December 2023 in Shenzhen, China. The overall program consisted of a symposium, General Assembly (GA), APMP NMI Directors’ Workshop, Technical Committee (TC), Developing Economies Committee (DEC), Executive Committee (EC), EC-CC Meeting and Focus Group (FG). These meetings and related activities provided a platform for participants to promote exchange of knowledge and technological advancement, leading to the development of measurement standard to be recognized in this region and worldwide.
