NIMT sends an expert to ensure the measurement accuracy and calibration of high precise weighing for injection equipment COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca.

National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) sent a professional metrologist in primary mass standards and related quantities metrologist, Mr. Monchai Mitaree to ensure the measurement accuracy and calibration of high precise weighing for COVID-19 vaccine injecting equipment AstraZeneca at Vajira Hospital, Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University on April 9, 2021.

In this regard, Associate Professor Anan Manomaipiboon, M.D., as acting president of the university met and talked with Mr.Monchai Mitaree about the significance of balance calibration which is able to examine the injecting equipment of COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca. It enhances confidence in the measurement result that builds a safety and effectiveness to the vaccine recipients.

Moreover, Mr.Monchai minutely described to the hospital staff members about the fundamental examination of the balance. Before using the balance, it must conduct internal calibration first. Consequently, he gave the calibration method to the staff. After that, he calibrated the balance as EURAMET calibration Guild No.18 to measure the errors of indications. NIMT and Navamindradhiraj University have signed the mutual cooperation in medical research, medical metrology innovation development and research, especially, metrology knowledge-based against the COVID-19 that two institutes are highly concerned about. They contribute and lead metrology and medical against the COVID-19 in Thailand.

NIMT and Vajira hospital develop a prototype “Weight scale hospital bed for bedridden patients, disabled persons and elderlies”

Ms. Ajchara Charoensook, Director of NIMT and Mr.Anusorn Tonmuaenwai, Deputy Director of NIMT met the executives of the faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University; Asst. Prof. Anusaeng Jitsomkasem, Deputy Dean, Asst. Prof. Chakrawut Maneerit, Director of Vajira Hospital and Dr. Yutthana Apichatbutra, M.D., Deputy Director to hand over “Non-contact infrared thermometers” which have calibrated by NIMT under the project of the non-contact infrared thermometer calibration services for the medical service centers and public service units as a free of charge activity on March 29, 2021 at Bejaratana building, Vajira Hospital.

Both institutes discussed to develop a prototype innovation research about weight scale hospital bed for bedridden patients, disabled persons and elderlies. The bed is as medical device research belonging to Vajira Hospital that the bed reaches standardization, manufacturable, applicable and reasonable cost. The manufacturing applies the principle of metrology to be approved and certified accuracy from the beginning of upstream. Besides that, it reduces government spending. It saves government budget to be not bear the burden of high manufacturing cost, but it gets good quality products.

The medical service centers and public service units who are interested into our project, please join us without any charge at NIMT. For further information, call to 0 2577 5100 ext. 2309 (Mr.Suwattana) or visit, http://www.nimt.or.th/main/?p=35114
