training on the topic “Medical measuring device calibration: Infusion pump”

NIMT Cooperation and partnership development group organised a training on the topic “Medical measuring device calibration: Infusion pump”. This training was suitable for those who works relevant to maintain the medical measuring devices and other general publics. It purposed to those who attended the training to be able to select a suitable device, understand about correction value, and uncertainty value of measurement.

This training was trained by Dr.Theerarak Chinarak, Senior Professional Metrologist and Dr.Patcharapol Gorgitrattanagul, Metrologist from Fluid Mechanic Group, Mechanical Metrology Department. It was held both online and on-site at the building of measurement standard development to support the development of the rail system, NIMT, Pathum Thani province on 18 – 19 July 2022.

Practical training on the calibration of infusion pumps

The project of incubation and certification of academic competencies on the metrology of medical devices is a sub-project of the Building Entrepreneur Strength on the Thai Medical Industrial Manufacturing and Service with Measurement Standards. The project has arranged the practical training on the calibration of infusion pumps to staff members from Thai Medical Laboratory. In the training, Dr.Theerarak Chinarak, Senior professional metrologist of flow and volume of liquid laboratory, and Mr.Tassanai Sanponpute, expert metrologist of mechanism metrology gave their lectures which aimed to distribute knowledge and give an technical advices to the staff members. The training has included the support and transfer of the NIMT-established medical measurement standards value. The training was held in Phadung Matra building, National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), between February 24-25, 2021.

Ms. Charuayrat Yaokulbodee, Acting Head of Thermometry and Optical Metrology Department and NIMT staff paid a technical visit to National Institute of Metrology (NIM) between 7 – 13 July 2019 on Metrology on medical devices and food safety at Changping Campus and Hepingli Campus, NIM, Beijing, China.

The aims of this visiting were to technical exchange related to medical devices and food safety labs and activities as following;

  • Technical exchange on infusion pump and syringe pump.
  • Technical exchange on patient monitor and blood pressure.
  • Technical exchange on blood oximeter.
  • Technical exchange on phototherapy.
  • Technical discussion in Hepingli campus on element and speciation analysis; Sample preparation for arsenic speciation analysis in rice flour and mercury speciation analysis in fish.
  • Determination of arsenic speciation analysis in rice flour and mercury speciation analysis in fish with HPLC-ICP-MS.
  • Lab tour of the particle measurement lab.
    Introduction of the reference membranes for the calibration of β-ray attenuation monitors.
  • Lab tour of the ambient aerosol measurement lab.
    Introduction of the measurement of the penetration curve of PM2.5/PM10 samplers.
  • Technical discussion on related research cooperation in the future.

This project was supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Sciences, Research and Innovation (MHESI) (former-the Ministry of Sciences and Technology (MOST)) under the Thailand – China Sciences and Technology Cooperation. It was the first project on medical devices and food safety metrology which continue exchanging and joining researches between NIMT and NIM further.
