Organic Analysis Group was established within the Department of Chemical Metrology and Biometry to develop technical capabilities in the area of the analysis of organic compounds. The Laboratory contains five main measurement sections; high purity materials, organic standard solutions, trace organic compounds in food, trace organic compounds in clinical/forensic and trace organic compounds in environment.

The Laboratory has actively participated in the relevant regional and international comparisons to benchmark its metrological capabilities and to establish the degree of equivalence of its measurement standards. The measurement comparisons cover a wide area of work including contaminants, additives and toxic constituents in food, beverages and feed, biomarkers in biological fluids, environmental residues and purity assessments of organic compounds, etc.

The Laboratory has developed and produced a list of certified reference materials (CRMs) in compliance with ISO 17034 intended to be used as the calibrants and quality controls. The Laboratory also offers proficiency testing (PT) services which include conducting a PT programs and providing the reference values for PT providers within the country.
