It has the duty to maintain national mass measurement standards. The national standard mass number 80 (P80) was taken with the International Prototype of Kilogram (IPK) from BIPM in France. Mass measurements will be carried out by the mass laboratory to the second laboratories nationwide, which will convey the accuracy to the user level. The measurement results can be traced back to the National Mass Standard number 80. In addition, the mass laboratory is responsible for developing a method for calibrating the weights including scales and balances with internationally accepted measurement capabilities. It also serves as a pilot laboratory to compare domestic measurement results to strengthen and validate the mass measurement capabilities.
