Lt. Gen. Pornchai Suteerakune, Director of NIMT, participated in the 88th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI-88) and Related Meetings, held from 19\u201325 October 2025 at the Jubilee Prestige Hotel, Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok. The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).<\/p>\n<p>The meeting served as a vital platform for exchanging policies and strengthening collaboration among ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste, as well as dialogue partners, to enhance regional capacity and promote sustainable growth through science, technology, and innovation (STI).<\/p>\n<p>On 21 October, Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul officially launched the ASEAN Talent Mobility Platform (ATM), along with the ASEAN Regional Research Infrastructure Strategy and the Talent Management Hub \u2014 key initiatives under the ASEAN COSTI framework. These initiatives aim to promote the circulation of knowledge and expertise across the region, addressing the \u201cbrain drain\u201d phenomenon and transforming it into \u201cbrain circulation,\u201d thereby supporting sustainable regional development.<\/p>\n<p>On 22 October, the formal COSTI-88 Meeting convened discussions on ASEAN\u2019s STI policy directions and cooperation frameworks. Prof. Dr. Supachai highlighted the achievements of the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI) over the past decade and emphasized the forthcoming APASTI 2026\u20132035, which envisions \u201can integrated, innovation-driven ASEAN\u201d that enhances global competitiveness and fosters sustainable and inclusive growth across the region.<\/p>\n<p>The participation of NIMT marks another significant step in reinforcing Thailand\u2019s active role in regional STI cooperation, particularly in the field of metrology, which serves as the fundamental infrastructure for research, technological advancement, and industrial development.
